Filled a small growler of this from the brewpub. Had to drink this one simply because it uses Crooked Stave yeast. Poured into snifter for review.

A: appears perfectly clear amber with low carbonation. Not much head even after a vigorous pour.

S: I get black peppercorn and some light barnyard funk. Some light dark cherry notes.

T: lemon zest with very earthy notes. Bitterness is nice and solid. Not a lot of apparent Brett in taste. Maybe some musty, wooden door notes. Light dark fruits. Has lingering citric sourness to it - perhaps as if one had bitten into a lemon rind.

M: amply bitter. Feels medium full.

O: solod beer. No "wow" factor. Would likely get more funky with age but I'll drink this well before knowing.

First had: on tap at TH

Labeled as an amber ale fermented with Crooked Stave brett.

Darker amber pour, pretty hazy, with a small but dense cap of frothy off-white head that retained well and coated the glass with lacing. Grassy funk in the aroma, bready malts, earthy hops. I found the flavor to be pretty muted, bready caramel malts, grassy, slightly musty, not much (none?) of the "tart lemon and black cherry" promised in the description. Almost came off like a mild ale more than anything else. Flavor was a bit lacking, but the mouthfeel was solid, smooth and pillowy soft, medium bodied and pleasant. Not their best by far, but still enjoyable overall.

Appearance: Reddish-brown, slightly hazy. Extremely clingy lacing. A beautiful beer.

Smell: Sour brett smell mixed with some sweet malt undertones.

Taste: Only a slight sour funk, hoppy backbone, malt intermingles throughout.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body with medium carbonation.

Overall: Just not my cup of tea. Good for people that are just starting out with Brett.
