Easy to find, hard to park. The atmosphere is great with exposed brick, and high ceilings. 4 of us got a table upstairs. We did seem to be under a speaker which was louder than we would have liked.

My father walked up to the bar, while a waiter came to the table. My father asked for an "ale". He received a long discussion about the differences between ales and lagers. He finally got a taster of a dark beer. (Surprisingly this taster cost $3!!!)

The other 3 of us read the beer menu, with descriptions like "Notes of spicy chocolate, green pepper, toffee, the great outdoors, and a hint of flaming lips". (Flaming lips? the band, the candy, or what it does to you?). The Great outdoors -what does that taste like?

We all got different beers, and passed them around. None of us loved any of the beers! A few had off flavors, and the rest were nondescript. 2 of us ordered a second beer, and one of those was certainly better.

We tried a meat platter called " abbruzze". It came with a rather long description. What we got were 6 thin slices of sopressata (dry salami-recognizable to any Italian), 2 pieces of bread and mustard for $8. Sadly we could have bought a whole sopressata at Carlino's market 3 blocks away for the same price.

After leaving we went 1 block to Cricket Avenue where there are multiple bars, and drank better beers (Sierra Nevada Celebration, Troegs Mad Elf, Sly Fox Winter). At John Henry's Tavern we had 2 for 1 appetizers (Happy Hour), a big plate of Nachos, and wings (All for $8).

In Summary, the building is great. the beer at 6-7 dollars/pint was mediocre, and the food laughable. There is much better in Ardmore.

Visited midday on a Monday. The fermentaria was wide open. The bar/restaurant on one side, even more seating/fermentation tanks on the other. Nice ambiance with the live action on the fermentation side quite a change. Very clean.

Our server was very friendly, explaining the beer concepts and whatnot to my wife and myself. We tried 3-4 beers each.. all tasting great. I had read/heard some good things about Tired Hands, and I'm glad we took the time out to visit. If only it wasn't an hour away, we could have stayed and really enjoyed the place.

I stopped by one afternoon with my boss while visiting from out of town. The place was not packed but there was a good mood. We stayed downstairs which is a little small but had no issue getting around or getting to the bar for a beer. The beers on draft were great, we ordered a couple of flat breads and a cheese plate. The food came out quick and the food was great. The service was excellent, I say this because I did not have to wait for a beer but once and the dude that brought the food was great. I will say this the parking is limited and I did not have change for the meter so I asked for change for a $20 which I had. The bartender told me since it was 5:30 parking was free after 6 and gave me 50 cent from his tip jar for the meter. Needless to say he got that $20 for himself when I left. Great place great food I would come back here every chance I got.

Short visit today but overall I thought it was an excellent experience with great service, fantastic heavy metal music playing and really tasty food in addition to the beers. Our bartender knew her stuff, was very attentive and quick with all orders and samples. I'm definitely planning to come back for a full day.

On a recent trip to Philadelphia...
Stopped first at the brew house (beer and small plates) on a release day. There was a line for growlers, which I think gummed up the service. There seemed to be people around, but the single-threaded nature of the process of handling to go visitors seemed to interfere with our intent to sit there and drink and try a few beers.

Once the furor died down, the service was fairly decent, so I could go up a notch here, but the initial viewing of people who didn't seem to care sticks with me. This place is small, and seems a little more like a place to hide and drink a beer. I like this kind of place, but it didn't seem open to a more social aspect.

A decent range of IPA to APA to sour was available, but there were only about 10 taps, a dozen tops.

This was a nice place to visit, though for atmosphere, the sister location up the road seems a better option,

very cool joint. great selection out of the taps. a little saison heavy for my taste, but it is late spring / early summer. HopHands was what I tried on this trip - solid hazy beer.

one of my favorite brewery visits ever! this place is awesome, and we had a wonderful time. its such a cool old building, like an old country farmhouse, made of stone and wood, and looking super rustic, even cooler than what i had in my head for a place that makes such interesting old world ales, the vibe in here is amazing. its a bit tight when you walk in, almost feels like a barn, with a small bar, the brewery there behind it, and just a little bit of seating. we went upstairs to the loft area, charming and quaint and country and beautiful, dim lighting, exposed wood beams, old wooden furniture, and another small bar in the back. feels almost like an amish structure of some kind, or what i would imagine one to be like if i knew what i was talking about... it was absolutely packed in here on a saturday afternoon, which brings me to the service. it was every bit as good as the beer, which is to say it was positively tremendous. we had a large group, more than ten, and even in this tiny place at peak hours, they were highly accommodating. one server by herself got us set up and taken care of, beers right away, food shortly after, and separate checks that had to be annoying, but she was a complete professional, insanely patient, and just awesome. not all in our group were beer people, and she was thoughtful and helpful to them, and really enhanced our experience with here diligent work, i hope we thanked her adequately. the beer here i think speaks for itself, some of the best in the region, but i was particularly impressed with hop hands and blue eyed soul, a couple of unique saisons, which is really what these guys do best, but their hoppy beer was great too. the food was also great, we had a bunch of taste charcuterie and cheese, but also some filling hot sandwiches, and all of it was great. i love the old school charm of this place, and would love to check it out at a less busy time for a more intimate experience, but food and beer and service were all on point, and the ambiance here is as good as anywhere. i cant wait to go back some day!

Wow. A really intimate brew pub that didn't cost millions and really shows the character of the owner(s)! Looks like a 5 bbl system and looks like a hodge podge of equipment separated by double doors from the bar. The place is small and intimate with four four-seat tables and maybe six or eight bar stools. Great service!. The food is all pannini based and right behind the bar. I did not eat as I was stuffed from being elsewhere, but it looked really good.

I loved the bar feel. Very intimate and down to earth. You could really feel the love in this place. Alt hard rock/metal was playing, but not so loud you couldn't carry on a conversation in a low voice. All around a place I wish was down the street from where I live.

Now for the beers. All the beer are open fermented. And the do ferment some saisons and sours. Sadly this bleeds over into some of their other beer styles. The Biere de Garde, for example is virtually perfect except for that hit of sour. Still a good brew, but in my opinion the open fermentation does it no service. They also seem to use a lot of oats in their brews. Whether this is to save money or to add to the eclectic-ness of their brews I do not know, but it does somewhat lighten the body of their brews and impart a different flavor profile from normal. Then again they have a sczechuan IPA so normal is not what you get here anyway.

All in all a nice place. Expect some odd brews but a great pub atmosphere.
