Mother Road Kölsch Style Ale is inspired by the winding ‘Gold Road ’ stretch of Route 66. This lively, crisp ale is deep champagne in color and yields fresh orchard-like aromas with subtle pear and lemon flavors. At the final curve, discover mild biscuit malt and a dry finish - a perfect all-occasion beer.

Rating from notes. Consumed September 2013. Called "Gold Road Kolsch" at the time of sampling. "A passable Kolsch, fun to try but not something I would purchase again."

Got in a trade with AZBeerDude72. 16 ounce can into pint glass, canned on 6/11/2019, best before 9/9/2019. Pours fairly crystal clear medium golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big cracker, white bread dough, and lightly toasted biscuit; with lighter notes of honey, corn, lemon, peach, pear, melon, red apple, herbal, floral, wood, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance of bready malts/grains, and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast notes; with big strength. Taste of big cracker, white bread dough, and lightly toasted biscuit; with lighter notes of honey, corn, lemon, peach, pear, melon, red apple, herbal, floral, wood, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, honey, corn, fruit, herbal, floral, wood, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Awesome robustness and balance of bready malts/grains, and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and no astringent hop flavors after the finish. Fairly crisp/clean finishing. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness and carbonation. Medium-plus carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth and moderately bready/grainy/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.3%. Overall this is an awesome Kolsch! All around awesome robustness and balance of bready malts/grains, and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the modestly bitter/drying finish. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Awesomely clean pils malt/grain showcase, balancing earthy hops, and restrained fruity yeast. Mild residual sweetness with crisp dryness. Mild on adjuncts. A really enjoyable offering, and impressive spot on style example.

Pint-sized can - Canned on 03/22/18, best by 09/19/18 - had two days before:
Poured into a straight-sided glass:
Pours clear deep golden. A thin lasting head leaves lacing.
The smell is grainy, slightly nutty, a hint of fresh pear.
The taste is malty - grainy. Slightly nutty. Biscuit. Noble hop fruitiness (lemon and pear) in the semi-dry finish.
It is smooth. Light-bodied.
A nice example of a Kolsch. Easy to drink and light with a firm character.

Picked up a single from Craft Beer Hop Stop 10-9-17 for $2.25. Canned on 8-10-17, best by 12-8-17. Looks like the brewery dropped the "Gold Road" from the name.
Beer poured golden with a nice white head with the initial pour that dissipated quickly.
Nose had light hints of fruit esters.
Taste was very faint fruit over a modest malt base.
Mouthfeel was light and but not as crisp as hoped.
Overall not a bad beer but misses the style mark a tad bit.
