Despite what evryone hold against the Japanese for making beers. This one has the ticket.
A: like any lager beer...golden amber with little carbonation
S: like a heineken, with a skunky aroma
T: Robust and skunky...awesome...love it rich skunk taste...better than a Heiny..uless its wearing a Kimono
M: smooth and silky
D: an easy 12er with 6 bottles of warm sake to wash down some great Kotobuki sushi
I love it and look forward to it on every Sushi Occasion

Sapporo Classic, from the can, poured into a short glass. This was sent to me by a friend living in Hokkaido.

Look: Pouring the beer into the glass showed an extremely clear golden-copper color with a pure white head composed of medium/small bubbles about an inch thick. The head quickly dissipates to a weak sub-monolayer floating about the edge of the glass. Medium carbonation causes a steady slow stream of bubbles towards the surface. Looks very appetizing.

Smell: A faint bitter hop scent with obvious skunkiness. Really burying your nose in the glass reveals some sweeter floral aromas and a bit of alcohol presence.

Taste: Weak hop bitterness leads here followed by a generic maltiness. I expected some off skunky flavors given the aroma, but detected none on the taste. A corn flakes/cereal grain taste predominates with a coppery undertone. Alcohol is present but not obvious, a "classic" Japanese beer taste that really makes me crave some fried or salty food to offset the pale malt/hop character of the beer. Very drinkable.

Feel: An extremely crisp beer. The beer feels silky on the mouth with weak carbonation offering refreshment. Extremely palatable and refreshing. The clean taste invites another sip which I am inclined to accommodate.

Overall: Japanese beers do have a reputation for being dull and tasteless, but this brew represents a quality entry in its style. Clean flavor, extremely crisp feel , very pleasing golden color and refreshing nature make this beer extremely enjoyable.

Appearance: Clear golden brew with good carbonation. Foamy white head.

Smell: Solid malt with a clean malt presence.

Taste: Rich malt with good hop flavor. Very crisp and balanced.

Mouthfeel: Medium body. Creamy smoothness.

Drinkablity: Only in Hokkaido, the tastiest basic Sapporo brew. Good hop presence for a Japanese brew.

Overall, good. Had this while saki bombing, and for the situation it is a great beer. Something to have some fun with. Not bitter as i remember, and not really a beer to sip on. More of a beer for downing to get woosted. I was also a little surprised, i had lower expectations from a Japanese import.

10/16/16 - Coworker "imported" this from Japan for me. Cool can written in Japanese. Tall boy poured into an imperial pint glass. Dark yellow with nice white head that quickly dissipates. Taste is fine and went down very easily as we grilled outside. I'll get it again the next time I have sushi.

A - Really clear gold, no head when the beer was set in front of me.

S - Mostly just a little malt nose, metallic.

T - It came across alot cleaner than the smell indicated, pretty malty.

M - Smooth, well carbonated, good session beer.

D - Pretty drinkable, there's nothing really outstanding it, but nothing that's gonna keep you away from it either.
