A: Pours a clear golden color with a moderate head and no real lacing.

S: Clean aroma of malt, fresh grain and just a bit of sweetness.

T: Taste of malt and fresh grain with a mild sweetness. There is a very subtle bitterness and a dry finish.

F: Light body, very crisp and smooth. Decent balance and a very clean feel.

Nice beer that goes down very easy. Fairly bland but was still enjoyable. Compliments Japanese cuisine very well. Quite good for the style.

Ok, I'm back. After a promising 'yoga in the park' detour on Waikiki Beach with my soon-to-be missus, which turned out to be pleasant, and stretchy, enough, save the fact that the instructor turned out to be Japanese, and spoke that language almost exclusively for the whole session, given the multitude of Japanese students...anyhoo, suffice to say, I have a very strong hankering for a Japanese beer. Ya know, any one of those crazily available a moment's step in any direction in this part of the world.

This 650ml can pours a crystal clear, pale golden straw colour, with three fingers of foamy and puffy bone-white head, which leaves a sparsely-strewn web of lace around the glass as it gently subsides.

It smells of crisp and crackery white grain, and a metallic acerbic herbal edge, one that is hard to attribute to actual hops. The taste is fairly malty - bready and crackery, with only the slightest of skanky, almost diacetyl-like off-flavour, with some respectably understated grassy, weedy hops.

The carbonation is a bit frizzy, but generally amenable, the body a decent medium weight, and a bit too tacky to proclaim outright smooth, but it works well enough. It finishes sweet, but not overly so, the graininess holding tight to that all-malt claim, and the hops hangin' tough on the down-low.

Not a shabby Euro pale lager, it could use a bit more hops, but the malt claim is justified, and I had no problem putting back the can after the outright warmth of this day. Sassy contoured can too - jeez, can environment have that much affect on a guy's beer senses? Apparently so.

What is the funniest pat about this beer? It's Japanese, but it is brewed and canned in Guelph Ontario Canada.

It pours a wonderful gold color that is clean and clear, and it feels light and clean in the mouth like a lot of beers by macro breweries. And it smells like a good beer, not like one that reminds you of beer vomit.

Flavor is the most important, though, and it is par. It is clean, brewed with ingredients that were chosen to cater to the financial market. It tastes like a widely marketable beeer, nothng bad at all. However it falls short for those of us who ant more out of a beer.

It's not bad, it's like a typical party where you know what is going to happen, and at the end of the night you are happy, but there were no surprises that left you ecstatic. Overall it is a 3.5.

Sapporo Reserve has a thick, soapy, slightly off-white head, and a clear, yellow-golden appearance, with lots of streaming bubbles and pretty thick lacing. The aroma is standard lager- barley and water. Taste is sweet, bread, lightly-roasted barley, and a bit of hops for rounding purposes. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Sapporo Reserve finishes crisp, clean, refreshing, mild, and easy drinking. This is a lager the way it’s supposed to be, and it’s delicious.

A - Pours a hazy gold color with a very thick white head with good retention, light lacing.

S - Bread and malt can't really get any hops in the smell.

T - Wow, this is really clean tasting citrus, bread, and malt slight hop finish really crisp by far one of the best Euro Pale Lagers I've had.

M - Light bodied with good carbonation.

Appearance: Light Gold (about a 5 SRM), Bleach white soda bubble head that died fast, spotty lacing, tons of carb.

Smell: It smells like a multi-grain macro (says all malt though), herby floral, light malt undertones.

Taste: Light malt, light herby. Watery body, maybe a very small bite of hop, maybe.

Overall: Eh. This is a small step above bud. I was really hoping for a nice big step from a name like this with it's pushing of its euro hop and all malt bill, but it's fallen short.
