I really enjoy their hop essence series, so now bringing in Galaxy, one of my fav hops, is a huge awesome thing that I just am super excited for. Bottled 9/25/14 so super fresh too.
Pours a nice creamy fizzy 1 finger head that fades at a med pace, lighter but decent lacing, hazy slight reddish mostly nectar orange colored beer.
Nose brings Galaxy, not as pungent as I initially expected but nice, fair amount of citrus with a little candied orange peel, tons of general fruity aromas, with some tropical notes, generic tropical notes and some musty resin, a little melon rind, as it warms it gets more pungent, and a big peach and almost strawberry like fruit come through, and candied apricot, etc. A fair sweet malt base brings those candy aromas. It gets a little grassy and earthy as it goes as well.
Taste brings some sweet malt at first, btu then that quickly gets flooded by hops, earthy spicy like hops out front, grassy and a little forest like, hop pellet chewing kinda flavor. Then the fruit kicks in, more generic fruity flavors and a little citrus, some orange rind and candied orange peel again, perhaps a bit tropical like, but not a ton, a little orange pineapple guava kinda mixture thing, and a little clementine softness, etc. Peach eventually comes through, with a little candied apricot and stone fruit flavors. A faint warming booze, with teh sweet like malts, smooth and a bit creamy, with a little resin in the background. Fair bitterness that increases as it goes, a nice drying like finish, with big bitter pop at the end, a little grainy cracker malt late, with some candied orange again, more stone fruit and faint tropical notes, and a bit more spicy earthy grassy hop.
Mouth is med bod, creamy like malt, nice carb.
Overall nice, but not as good as I hoped. The hops start muted, and then get quite nice, but too much of the spicy earthy grassy aspect coming through I think, and gets too bitter and spicy like for a good Galaxy hopped beer, which the hop should showcase itself instead of overpowering bitter.

Served in a pint glass at the Union Brewhouse in Weymouth.
Appearance: A one finger head was poured that reduced to a thin layer. It is a hazy pale orange yellow color with good clarity and vision of bubbles coming up through the glass. Frothy lacing down the glass as the beer was drank.
Smell: Juicy citrus, floral, herbal, grassy, pungent, toasted, and sweet caramel hops.
Taste: Same as above. Hops are earthy and spicy too with some candy malt characteristics adding to the hop flavor. Tingly bitterness in the rear.
Mouthfeel: Smooyh, mild tingly bitterness, medium to full bodied, a little chewy, and medium carbonation.
Overall: Another single hop essence series great beer. Galaxy is a personal favorite and they really show through in this beer. I look forward to another glass and the next hop in this series.
