Tall silver can, no freshness/canning info that I can find.

Medium haze, lighter amber, quality looking and lasting cap, leaving froth, and moderate sheets of fine lacing.

Mango up front on the fruity nose

Tasty DIPA, moderate amounts of fruit (again mango) and just more then a hint resinyof resiny hops.

Golden orange in color. Hazy in appearance. Unripe mango up front, tangerine, orange zest and grapefruit pith. So dry finish. Drinks extremely light for a dipa. Pine bitterness lingers on the finish. This is really good.

16 oz. can

Pours slightly hazy gold with a creamy frothy white foam head. Smells super dank with big mango juice, mango, orange citrus, grapefruit, passionfruit, guava, pineapple, toasty nutty caramelized malt, with dank earthy herbal grass and floral resinous pine. Tastes like juicy mango, orange citrus, grapefruit, passionfruit, guava, pineapple, toasty nutty caramelized malt, with dank earthy herbal grass and floral resinous pine. Feels medium bodied, creamy with moderate carbonation. Overall a nice DIPA with mango juice.

It's good. Nothing jumps out. Not over the top with anything. A smooth drinking double. Well balanced, no sign of the 8.4ABV. Overall, a decent double.

Not going to lie, was intrigued by the label (something I hadn't seen before), and when I saw it was a DIPA from Massachusetts I decided to give it a whirl. The "brewed with mango" was interesting as well. This beer has a soft orange haze to it, but more translucent than opaque. Smell was a bit of fruit, maybe some unripe mango, a bit of citrus, and a little bit of pine. Taste...hmm...I didnt get much of the fruit/citrus in the taste, and the hints of mango were a bit tart. It honestly tastes like a standard, middle of the road, East-Coast DIPA without much fanfare. I will say, the booze is a bit hidden behind some confusing flavors. I do appreciate a DIPA where the booze is not one of the first flavors you get. The finish has more of the tart mango, and lingers for awhile. Overall, I think this could have potential if they brought more of the fruit to the forefront. I probably would not get this again, but I'll try any DIPA from New England once.

Poured into a tulip from a 16oz can. Can says "brewed with mango juice" which is funny because this beer is only nearly as juicy as some Tree House beers I've recently had that are brewed without any fruit added. That said, comparing any beer to TH is not fair and this beer is balanced and tasty. For 8.4 ABV its very drinkable and tasty. This is my first Brewmaster Jack offering and its captured my attention. I will be trying others. ..

Straight pour from a 16oz can to an oversized wineglass (JK stem—what else?). No freshness or packaging information is present on this case, from what I can tell. Seems like a pretty small operation, but hey. Always down to try something new (to me) and regional.

Appearance (4.25): Two full fingers of custard-colored foam rise off of the pour, capping a slightly hazy, burnt orange-honey colored body that’s glowing, bright orange at the corners. The head dies down quite slowly, leaving thick waves and filmy arcs around the sides of the glass. As the drink goes on, lacing is more sparse, but the original foamy splotches remain.

Smell (4.0): Kind of the usual tropical fruit salad aroma going on here: mango (obviously), like your standard Keitt variety, along with some richer papaya and a bit of lemon curd. The malt is present, too, with light brown sugar, wheat bread, and a little bit of oyster cracker. No booze. There’s also some kind of vegetal-dank aroma going on here, too, that’s adds a touch of green onion and resin. I actually kind of like that it adds an earthy texture to it.

Taste (2.5): This is . . . definitely more bitter than I was anticipating. Unfortunately, it really leans into the oniony, earthy aspect. Which is not great. That part leads the way on the palate, with a vegetal flavor and mildly astringent, oniony bitterness, colored in a bit with light, juicy, sweet citrus flavors: a bit of tangelo, a bit of mango. Oddly, the bitterness can take on a feeling kind of like lime flesh toward the finish. Again, no booze, which is fairly impressive. The hops also add some spicy, kind of earthy flavor that becomes prominent just past the mid-palate, and sticks around through the finish and into the aftertaste. It’s most pleasant before the finish, because it blends with some onion-like flavor in the aftertaste. Overall, I’d say this is right about average, except the oniony aftertaste really does not leave a great impression.

Mouthfeel (3.25): The body feels medium-full with a decent slickness to it, and carbonation is pretty average in coarseness. Hops dry it out significantly, leading to a dry, somewhat spicy finish. It’s pretty drinkable, except for the vegetal flavors. They really slow it down.

Overall (3.0): I’m ah, kind of disappointed. I’ve never had anything from Brewmaster Jack before, having passed over them plenty of times on account of decent selection in this area. But I saw a DIPA brewed with mango from a small brewery in the Northeast, I didn’t have anything in my fridge that was going to adequately scratch my itch for hops. So, I bought a can. It’s okay, but I’m good with having bought just the one can. I’m willing try other beers from this brewery, but skip this one.
