Metalhead kingdom right here. (Good luck finding parking.,)
Any place that’s playing Judas Priest in the afternoon raises my spirits. Trve keeps the horns up!
Quality of the brews is Excellent.
Service attentive, knowledgeable, patient.
Selection on my visit was good, but many ‘little’ session ales, sours, IPAs, and only one Stout. Cool names! Hail Satan!
Overall, a beer mecca that I hope stays fiercely independant and Trve to the scene and their style.

I’m not sure what, exactly, I should have prepared for, given what appears to be TRVE’s reputation—is it the heavy metal theme that scares folks away?

Regardless of the case, I had no problems here and (perhaps music aside) found it a far more relaxing and even contemplative space than appearances would otherwise indicate. It helps that the servers were all super friendly and inviting, and extremely patient with my beer geekery, and their selection was just fantastic. Worth the trip, worth the trek.

Vibe here is very interesting. The whole place is focused on metal music, with metal themed decor, metal band t-shirt merch on all employees, and metal music playing throughout the sound system. Music is at a firm enough volume to sit back and listen, but also quiet enough to carry on a conversation. Keep in mind, the space is rather slim, making for a cozy stop. A kitchen in the back was serving Nashville-style hot chicken during my visit, which made for an easy food order on premise. Staff is kind enough. Selection spans a wide array of styles with a slight preference to IPAs. Happy with the visit and would certainly return.

I really enjoyed going here even on a Monday night. I am the stereotypical demographic as I am a metalhead before anything. Chances are you already know the beer is quality so I'll use the space to promote the new food company inside the place, I HIGHLY recommend Music City Hot Chicken. The Nashville hot is great with TRVE beers and the hottest sauce they have is its own experience.

Went back again before I move, the chicken in there is really good I hope they can keep working with that place, selection was also slightly different already so that was cool too

V-If you're into metal music, you will love this place. It's dark, atmospheric and surprisingly welcoming.
Q- Some of the best beers I've ever had with a wide variety of beers.
S-Incredibly welcoming and nice service. Helpful and engaged.
S-Again, some of the best beer I've ever had with a wide variety. My wife isn't a huge beer fan and she found plenty of beers to enjoy.

Noted:If you want to eat here, there's a good selection of restaurants that cater to the brewery and a solid selection of food that doesn't take long to deliver.

Winding down in Denver town, this our second to last day of play. Crippling breakfast, check, and now we’re off to, hey, where are we going exactly? What’s ‘Tra-ve’?’ Oh, you mean the sour beer metal place? Are you stupid? It’s pronounced ‘True’, dude (awkward silence in the car as we laugh at a certain someone). Navigated in and then Davo, who is champion, jumped back in the car to relocate when the talls turned away. TRVE. It’s guarded by no less than three men on scooters, we don’t acknowledge them, and enter…

It’s deep and dark, kind of. I mean, it’s lighter up front due to the entrance and then goes darker as you get further in (don’t be a-scared). The walls however, seem to be painted darker up front & lighter to the rear (or maybe not), so let that sink in. Concrete flooring, painted low ceilings with duct work. Drop wood frame boxed bulb filaments over the tabling; spots over the bar on the taps & bar counter art, and on the walls & to the rear. Multiple 3’ x 4’ black & white prints of a dilapidated abandoned house (each from a different angle or position) on both walls. They haunt my dreams. I think (read: I am absofuckinglutely sure) bad things have happened there. Super creepy. Someone should bulldoze that shit down, Forrest Gump Jenny's house style.

So, there’s a single enorrrrrrmous 3 plank picnic table off to one side; I’m talking 7 baby benches seating 2 each on both sides, so that’s um, 7 benches, 2 each, that’s 14, on both sides, yeah, seating for 28. This table could seat 3 dozen+ if not for the shorty share 2-seater benches, you know what I mean? And 6 standing bar counters off the far wall should you not make the grown-up table this Thanksgiving.

Past there sits a straight wood topped bar with a break off to the right; black panel base and seating for 16 stooled. The barback counter (shrine) holds a barbell tap tower with a dozen non-descript handles and a single upright cylinder off to one side, amidst candles and animal skulls, because clearly, somethingbody was sacrificed 10 minutes before you got here. On the wall over the taps, pentacle goat & wolf banner flaggings to both sides of a framed winged whathtefuckisthat? print below mounted horns.

Bottle & can cooler behind the bar for the pouring from. Bar counter ledge adjacent to the bar running the length with small Tired Hands-like drawings for sale lining the wall above. And a slight platform to the rear left where a small brewery used to be. Shirts & swag forward the bar, and there’s a bottle cooler fronting the space; they need to move it back 20 feet and put in more seating. Bar counter seating in the front garage door roll up opening.

Alongside the barback wall, the beer list is done up via projection screen action, split between ‘clean beer’ and ‘sour beer’. They give you beer, descriptors, & ABV, but no discernable differentiation between draft, bottle, & can. Hmmmm. Okay, there’s a paper list that shows draft pricing for shorty & full pour with crowler & 4 pack to-go options, as well, and also bottle & can pricing. Still, the menus just have all formats lumped in together; it kind of makes my brain ache.

22 offerings in all, again, the list is split between ‘clean beer’ (Cold, Kellerpils, 4.9%; Steady Now, Belgian Pale Ale, 3.8%; Lower, Table Saison, 2.8%; Ageless Fire, East Coast IPA, 5.7%; Show No Mercy, West Coast IPA, 5.6%; Stout O))), American Stout, 6.2%; Cosmic Crypt, Farmhouse Pale Ale, 5.6%; Atla, Kviek Style Farmhouse Ale w/Juniper, 4.5%; Scorn, West Coast Pale Ale, 5.4%: Apricot Crypt, Farmhouse Pale Ale on Apricots, 5.7%; Exhumation, East Coast Pale Ale, 4.6%), and ‘mixed culture sour beer’ (Red Chaos, Golden Sour on Colorado Tart Cherries, 6%; Starving Gods of Old, Golden Ale on Colorado Peaches, 5.9%; Heathen Reign, Golden Ale on Colorado Chokeberries, 5.7%; Cursed, Pale Ale, 4.7%; Jewel Throne, Golden Ale on Colorado Apricots, 5.7%; Rest, Lagered Saison, collab w/Oxbow, 7%; Spirit Ritual, Golden Ale on Colorado Plums, 6%; Dying Light, Golden Ale on Roussane Grape Must, 6.1%; Novae, barrel blend, 5.5%; It’s a Dry Heat, Golden Ale dry hopped w/Galaxy, collab w/Arizona Wilderness, 5.8%; Myrican Viking, Golden Ale w/Bog Myrtle, collab w/TOOL, 4.9%).

I drank or sampled a few of the clean beers (Stout O))), really damn tasty; Scorn, dry hopped, fruity; and Apricot Crypt, dry & Saisony), and they were very good, but them mixed culture sour beers ruled (Red Chaos, bright red, funk & pucker!; Starving Gods of Old, damn, that’s peachy, farmhouse funk; Jewel Throne, a lot more sour than the peach, me thinks, like!; It’s a Dry Heat, dry & funk). I’m a sucker for stone fruit beers so yeah, cherries, peaches, & apricots are my wheelhouse and these don’t disappoint.

A chill comfortable Friday afternoon hang (with ‘No Cookie Monster metal’, says Witz). Beers are well done and there’s quite the range. I could do some serious time here.

TRVE is Denver's heavy metal themed brewery, and one step inside makes that abundently clear. Located in a nondescript little spot on South Broadway, the Necrominon symbol on the front door welcomes you into a dark, dark place. Metal blasts you in the face as your eyes adjust to the darkness. And no, it isn't Poison or Godsmack or Linkin Park; it's called TRVE for a reason. You're gonna hear fast and heavy metal, so posers, take it down the street. The bar is a long slab of dark wood facing what can only be described as an Altar of Beer, surrounded by evil art, skulls and candles. The beer they serve here is excellent, and they are known for their sours, ranging from slightly tart to pure vinegar. They also have a non-sour menu, with the beer totaling almost twenty at any given time. The staff is awesome, friendly without being douchey, knowledgeable without being pretentious. The beer is so good, even people who hate metal flock here, so be prepared to mingle with all types of folks here.

TRVE fucking rules, top 3 breweries in Denver for me. Come here and experience something different.

Total metal bar; I like some metal music so was cool with it, but very loud death metal playing and a ton of people in black or graphic band tees.

Beer was really good and they had a funky and non-funky menu which was awesome.

I would definitely go back as the beers from this place were one of the hidden gems on the trip. If you're traveling with a lady friend who isn't into metal they may hate the vibe though.
