Hot Darn, a great stout. 330ml bottle into my "chalice/sniffer" ugly duck of a glass. A month out from best of date.

Appearance- Black as a moonless light I can't overstate the fact that this beer is opaque and lets no light though or does not even turn an amber hue at the end, low carbonation, low lacing, a thin rim of a head.
Smell- Really roasted kick with some light sweet dark fruit.
Taste- Same as the smell with roasted grain and ground coffee
Mouthfeel - A medium body with a low carbonation and a very drying beer and smooth.
Drinkability- Amazing one of the best I have had from a bottled sessionable stout, really good find in NZ. I don't care if you agree but I am buying some more next time.

Quite a thickish black colour. Pretty sweet. Too sweet for me, still, some nice roasty coffee flavours pop out every now and then, which is expected i guess. Some mollasses in the finish. Relatively uncomplex i think. But drinkable all the same......

Pours black with a lasting tan head.
Nose shows roasted coffee and cocoa. Quite sweet-smelling really, not all that much roasted malt.
Flavours are more roasty, with little of the complexity found in the aroma. Some bready malt.
Body feels a bit watery and is over-carbonated.

A- A solid dark brown/black body, but NO head. more or a ring of film along the outer part of the glass, not too much lace left either.

N- Weak on the Aroma, little bit of caramel and coffee, but faint at best.

T- Lots of toffee, mild/light hop presence, with a bit of a tang to the finish from something I'm not sure of. and a touch of coriander also.

M- Not as Crisp and carbonated as most other Kiwi beers I've tried. a little bit of a bite in the beginning, but it finishes "tartly smooth" if you will.

D- for as thin as it is (for a stout), it doesn't drink all that easy. or rather, not as much of a session ale as I would have expected. still a nice beer overall.

Pours dark, with a heavy red tinge to it. Ochre head, nice and dense. Lace is clingy and pleasant.

Smells quite toasty with a sweet edge. Chocolate notes, mild espresso and some milk notes. Touch of bitterness, mostly sweet. Pleasant.

Taste is not bad. Bit lacking on front-to-mid, quite milky with caramel and cream notes, just a touch of dark malt. Finish is somewhat roasty, with mild espresso bitterness and some cocoa as well. Bit bland, but decent stouty notes.

Mouthfeel is thin, unimpressive.

Yeah, not an exciting beer, but a decent, drinkable one.

On-tap at the Local Taphouse in Sydney for the Kiwi SpecTapular event. Still working through my backlog of reviews from what was a wonderful day of beer drinking.

Pours a dark, deep brown colour, hazed at the edges, but otherwise pretty much straight opaque. Nice filmy head forms sticky lace as the beer goes down.

Nose is bright but deep, giving chocolate, cacao and whiffs of freshly roasted coffee. Smells like a pleasant afternoon in a Sydney cafe. Nice.

Taste is dark and roasted, but with the sheen and glaze of pleasant metallic bitterness. It's not a particularly heavy beer, and I like the darkness in the flavour without the weight—it allows some brighter, sharper characters to come through. It also means it's surprisingly drinkable.

Yeah, this is a very nice beer. Drinkable and smooth. A very, very sessionable stout.

The beer pours a jet black colour which leaves a chocolate laced half finger head that vanishes upon putting the glass to your mouth,it smells of dark chocolate, coffee and raisins,it has an average mouthfeel which leaves the pallette with tastes of dark chocolate, roasted malts and coffee,it definately is an easy drinking stout that i will buy again.

A - Poured into a pint glass pitch black...
1.5 cm creamy tan head that falls away to a thin whisp quite quickly.
S - Roasty, sweet chocolate and coffee.
T - Also roasty with sweet chocolate and coffee. Some dark fruit hints.
M - Medium bodied with a low to medium carbonation.
D - A tasty, well crafted and sessionable stout. Something I'd happily drink more of.

Stout black with dark brown edges and a soft, cocoa-brown head. Rich toffee-chocolate malt with roasted coffee. Nice. Lightly sweet, dark chocolate. Coffee/roasted bitterness builds. Finish is toffeeish. Slight soapiness. Light-medium bodied. A tad thin for my liking. A bit overcarbonated too. Not bad.

Dark brown-black colour with a tiny, disappointing tan head.

Rich, slightly acrid roast, coffee aromas. Lovely.

Rounded, sweet malt flavour with nice roast overtones and good fruitiness.

Medium-light body. Nice and easy to drink.

This is a pretty good stout. Plenty of flavour and easy to drink.
