330ml bottle, 7% ABV, lot 286. Merci beaucoup to Phyl21ca for the extra in our recent trade. My first Spanish IPA, of all things.

This beer pours a dark, hazy, murky orange brick amber hue, with three fingers of puffy, thoroughly dense, and subsequently bubbly dirty white head, which leaves some crazy honeycombed lace around the glass as it very slowly recedes.

It smells of strong caramel and toffee malt, prominent grapefruit, orange, and other more muddled tropical fruit esters, a mildly besotted breadiness, and a soft earthy yeastiness. The taste is sharply biscuity caramel malt, a decent multicultural grocery store fruitiness, and earthy, rather perfumed floral hops.

The carbonation is fairly average, and mostly frothy as such, the body an adequate medium weight, and smooth in the same vein. It finishes off-dry, the bready caramel malt, indistinct fruitiness, and simmering alcohol all playing well enough together.

A decent IPA, one with aspirations to the New World's predilection for bigger, faster, and, um, 'better', but once attempting the jump, falls squarely into the British style's open arms, albeit in a bigger, more built-up manner. Tasty, and hoppy enough (not to mention the well-hidden booze) to engender a desire for another, should I ever have the chance.

Murky amber color with huge, frothy, beige head. Aroma has old, resiny hops and some booze. Taste starts with toasted, nutty malt, old hop character and harsh bitterness on the finish. Medium body and carbonation. I suppose the bottle was quite old but still, it has some evident flaws.

Bottle: Poured a deep amber color ale with a relatively large foamy head with good carbonation and some light lacing. Aroma of caramelized malt notes with some big bold citrus and bitter hoppy notes. Taste is also dominated by harsh bitter and citrusy hops notes with some caramelized malt backbone that is a bit too sweet for my taste buds. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Not bad but a bit too rough and harsh around the edge.

On-tap. ½ pt Stange glass @ II L´Hospitalet Artisan Fair 2014. Deep copper color, foggy appearance headed by foamy & creamy crown, yellowish off-white in color. Fresh aromas of yeast, ripe fruit & hops. Smooth toasted maltiness at first sip followed by slightly but increasing resinous bitterness. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Dense texture. Flavor mainly tends to hoppy – grapefruit & resins- so sharp bitterness resolves in a long hoppy finish but malts make their job so aftertaste is unctuous & thirst quench. Delicious, well balanced –despite its high IBU profile- & easy drinkable.

A: Pours a clear deep reddish amber in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and some moderate crimson red highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense foamy tan head that slowly reduces to a medium to large sized finger thick cap in the center of the glass and a thick film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer with a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of citrus/grapefruit pith, earthy, and herbal hops with moderate aromas of caramel + bready malts.

T: Upfront there is a moderate flavor of caramel, biscuit, and bready malts with a moderate amount of caramel sweetness. That is followed by a light to moderate flavor of earthy yeastiness and moderate to strong flavors of citrus/grapefruit pith and herbal hops which impart a moderate to strong amount of lingering bitterness.

M: Medium bodied with slightly heavier than moderate amounts of carbonation. Initially slightly crisp with a hint of dryness in the finish.

O: Definitely a beer that could fatigue your palate - big hop flavors and bitterness with some initial malty sweetness. In the same vein as a Nugget Nectar in that it is a cross-over Amber/Red and IPA but not necessarily quite the same fruitiness to the hops. Enjoyable with well hidden alcohol.

Had on tap at Max's Hopfest.

Pours a semi-hazy orange copper color.

The smell is mostly sweet citrus hops, nectarine, grapefruit, with caramel and resin.

This is a palate wrecker. It taste like a million IBU's. It's unbalanced and smacks you in the face. Very bitter, herbal, and hoppy. A bit too intense for me.

This is over-carbonated, very fizzy, which takes away from the beer.

From Lupulopolis. In Ikea's pint glass. After dinner. More a DIPA than an IPA because of its high bitterness, but a very tasty one. When warms it becomes even tastier.
