Style: Doppelbock

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 14.00%

Availability: Winter

Notes / Commercial Description:
The once strongest beer in the world is back! Brewed only once a year on December 6. Samichlaus is aged for 10 months before bottling. This beer is perhaps the rarest in the world. Samichlaus may be aged for many years to come. Older vintages become more complex with a creamy warming finish. Serve with hardy robust dishes and desserts, particulary with chocolates, or as an after dinner drink by itself. Brewed under the exclusive licence of Feldschlösschen-Hürlimann-Holding, Switzerland.

I wasn't expecting the sweetness. It's the sweetest beer I've ever tasted. But I found that I liked it. The taste is of sweet sherry, but bubbly. The color is very clear medium burgundy. It doesn't smell as sweet as it tastes.

Definitely not an everyday beer, but obviously isn't meant to be. A really nice holiday treat.

Bottled and must have something going on in the bottle like conditions
Pours like brandy and as the tan head disappears this is a good analogy
Smells of malt grain cereal
Pure boozy sugar flavour
Syrupy

Poured beautiful dark ruby burnt sienna with khaki head that dissipated quickly.
Malty toffee slightly off for me.
Taste...well knew it was gonna be sweet getting into this 14%'er. Really the sweet overpowers everything else. Brown sugar raisins more burnt brown sugar ontop of something i don't even know.
Thank god I got it from my neighbor for free. I choked it down...cause...beer...but would never actually drink again.

Be prepared for the sweetness, however once you get past that it is very pleasurable. This is not a cloying, chewy beer despite it’s strength. One to be slowly savoured like a fine wine.
The nose is reminiscent of molasses. Don’t expect it to retain a head, as once it is poured it settles to gently effervescent. The colour is a deep rich red-brown.

La bière du père Noël, it pours with a thin head which dissipates almost immediately. Not a lot of carbon dioxide, but it looks great. Nice ruby clear color, and it is extremely sweet! It tastes like raisins soaked in sugar. Definitely a dessert beer.

Oh my I hope samiclaus brings me alot more of this in his bag. Absolutely marvelous. My kind of beer when I'm needing some dessert. Raisins plums candy store stuff. Goes down so easy.. could be trouble with more than 2 of these. Gonna remember this one. Nice copper color...very little head.. sticky lace. Only let back I can taste is it is very darn sweet.

Poured into Westy XII chalice. Nice brown color, mildly effervescent. Smell is dark fruits. Flavor is moderately sweet with heavy dark fruits. Nice prickling on the tongue. 14% hidden well. This is an awesome brew. Will definitely get more for the winter. Love it.
