I only remember that this was quite a hop-infused German Pilsner, not bitter hops but more like aroma hops, especially in the aroma. Good thing that the flavor was also quite light and crisp but at the same time, had that Heineken-like tone to it that I like but without the skunk and the BS. Fresh, refreshing and a big AOK.

This Austrian take on the Pilsner style by Eggenberg is noteworthy. While it doesn't check some boxes in terms of subtle crisp bitterness of The Original Pilsner Urquell, Hopfenkönig is extremely delightful.
One thing that immediately stood out was it's honey sweetness. Yes, this beer is crisp and properly carbonated and has a lovely nose and color, but it's on the sweeter side of the Pils world of brews.
I would rename it. HopfenHonig would be the name.
Highly recommend this Pilsy.

Very attractive clear amber appearance with a lasting white head.
Carbonation is a hair light as the body but it still adds up to a nice feel.
Aroma is interesting, there's malt, grainy bread, earthy honey, dry with a little vegetable.
Taste is very close to aroma but the vegetable disappears. Theres a malty aspect that takes over but in a pleasant way.
.. overall its a nice beer that I wouldn't mind having again

Poured out of 500 ml tin. Color is golden with a nice head.
Bready aroma.
Crisp taste with slight bitterness. Decent carbonation. A little thinner than some pils but very drinkable and satisfying.

16oz can purchased at Huckleberry's, in Spokane, WA.
Poured into a dimpled mug, this was a slightly chill-hazed golden amber color, with a creamy, off-white head. Decent amount of lace.
Aroma is of French bread and softly herbal hops.
The hops are a little more up front in the taste, and a little more dry and bitter.
Fairly light bodied, with a crisp and clean mouth feel.
Nothing revelatory, just a nice German style pils. I'd hit it again.

Canned 2022/04/03
Pours a frothy foamy thick 1 finger head with good retention, messy lacing, semi hazy med golden tan color
Nose is not good, some cooked vegetables DMS like, tomato sauce, some herbal earthy hops, corn and cereal grain under that
Taste is a bit better but still has some DMS cooked vegetables, with pilsner malt bready doughy straw and corn, earthy herbal mild catty hops, some sulfite notes probably hard water, med to lighter bitterness, a little soft lager like but not clean, mild crisp bitterness and spicy hop bitterness on the finish
Mouth is med bod, med carb
Overall poor for a pilsner from Germany, not sure if it got messed up on the way and overheated or fermented in the can and got DMS, or boil wasn't strong enough, but not that good

Poured from a 16.9 undated can (not a green bottle as shown above): very pale and slightly hazy with a quickly receding white head of foam; not really what I expected for a pilsner.
Surprisingly peppery and spicy for the style, there are citrus and noble hop notes. Again, a little surprising for the style.
If I could sum up this pilsner, I would describe it as highly hopped Helles. The familiar flavors of vanilla and lemon are present and a sharp and refreshing bitterness on the palate. The label states this is an "Authentic Austrian Pilsner." I wish there were more Austrian pilsners available in the US if this is so. Very thirst quenching and quaffable for a hot Florida evening.
