The main reason I continue to go back is because they have a great selection of micro brews and crafts. Also, they have a build your own six pack of any crafts for 10.99 which is great. The place is a little run down, but if you're in Algonquin and looking for a place with a good selection, this is the place.

Great service and good ppl with great attitudes is what you can expect anytime you go to R & J liquors. Very knowledgable people with very helpful hints. You can get almost any type of craft you need at R&J liquors. If they don't carry it don't be shy, just ask one of the clerks If it's possible for them to order a specific beer for you. Depending on allocations, there shouldnt be an issue with the order. And last but not least, yes it's a small buisness but it's always a good thing to support ur local stores. Every local store needs our support and that's why I only shop local.

This is my neighborhood spot. If you haven't been here in a while, you may be in for a nice surprise. They have a very nice addition in the front right corner of the store, with a mix-6 and mix-4 station, bomber cooler, and additional warm storage racks with some very nice selections. They still have the coolers in the back with macros facing the front and the craft cooler around the right side near the back corner. Everything you can find warm in the front will have at least one 6- or 4- pack in the cooler as well.

The guy that runs this place is very enthusiastic about beer. He likes giving tips and suggestions and chit chat about various beers.

Breweries available: Founders, Bells, Three Floyds, Central Waters, La Trappe, Lagunitas, Stone, and many more.

Check this place out if you are nearby. It is tucked into the corner of the Butera shopping center, across from the Jewel on the east side of the river in Algonquin.

Stopped in here today on a tour of the NW burbs. R & J is tucked back in the corner of a strip mall next to a Butera Market, with a plain "Wine & Spirits" sign out front. One sign on the door advertised 10% off all bombers and 750s, and there was a Wild Onion poster above it.

Inside there was a wall of beers on the right, with a small display near the front windows... hopefully sunlight doesn't hit this area. The place looked to be under new ownership from a former Cardinal store... 70's era paneling, tile floors, flourescent lights. There were some singles set up for mix-a-six ($10.99), and about a dozen "high tier" or premium singles to mix a 4-pack. Bottles seemed to be in code and nothing was dusty.

There was a good selection, a variety of brands including: new stuff from Uncommon Brewers, Green Flash Rayon Vert, Firestone, Arcadia, Bells, Founders (x5), Emmetts, DFH (Noble Rot), FFF (APW, Dreadnaught, Alpha Klaus on sale for $6.99), Finchs, Wild Onion (Hop Slayer), Central Waters, Fat Cat Lager, and more.

Service was great, the friendly young clerk (let's just call him "Jay L.") greeted us and pointed out what was on sale. At the register he chatted about beer and local beer places for a bit. If I was local, this would be a convenient stop for grabbing beer to go near downtown Algonquin.

Skip the obvious shill review here... reviewing your own store is lame, chief.
