Relic excels at these Imperial IPAs. This one came from a pint can, poured into an IPA style glass. Nice two fingered cream colored head with great lacing. Tangy fruit on the nose. First sip is a delicious mix of grapefruit, mango and apricot flavors rolled back with the hop bitterness at the end to cleanse the palate. I have had at least a dozen DIPAs from Relic and they have been consistently excellent.

A double dry-hopped Citra DIPA from one of the more undersung NE breweries... enter Relic's Funeral Song! These guys regularly kill the hop game, but they've been quiet in my area for a few months now. Was excited to find this one on shelves, especially after their triple IPA, The Buckling, ended up kicking so much ass.
FS pours an opaque deep-orange color... a color and opacity-level that should be relatively-familiar territory for anyone familiar with this brewery's IPA offerings at this point. The head and retention here are quite nice. This one builds up to about four fingers at its highest point, and sinks slowly to approximately two fingers with crazy lace and decent legs. Nice looking stuff, guys!
The nose is big-time Citra, for sure! Lychee, tangerine, and light passionfruit with a helping of grapefruit and resin kicking around as well. Tangy and invigorating with a slight note of pineapple in the mix. Slightly grassy with a bit of mint for whatever reason. Herbal undertones and some dankness below the surface. A lot going on here, and it's all pretty good.
On the tongue, I'm getting a lot of pungent citrus flavors with punchy grapefruit rind leading the pack. A bit of tangerine and key lime in the transition to mid-palate, while tropical notes come out as the finish rears its head. Papaya and super ripe, fresh mango flesh totally overtaking the transition to the finish here. Light guava and dank elements happening in the finish with a long-lasting and overt bitterness coming across quite strongly. Each sip is quite interesting and there's some stuff going on here that really impresses me. I get an almost tart kiwi-fruit like element at times that really brings this into another dimension. This is most like Mistress of Wigs to me; an excellent Relic DIPA with a focus on some nice hops that really flexes the recipe building and hop-loading prowess of the brewery.
Feel is superbly balanced. For an 8% IPA, this is smooth as anything, and finishes super light and lithe in spite of its medium feel during the majority of the glass I poured. Good carbonation and structure. Everything is in place here, and I'm happy with this one for sure. Recommended!

Matte gold body, slightly cloudy. Two finger white head disapears rather quickly leaving behind a broken ring around the glass and lots of wet lacing.
The aroma is all hops. Lots of orange, pineapple, some sweet dried apricot and some musty compost of pine and grass.
A sturdy but nondescript malt backbone holds up lots of fruity hops. Dried apricot, grape skin, lime, orange and pineapple juice. A nice bit of pine and spice in the finish.
Medium body with active carbonation, stopping short of just being sticky. Full mouth feel.

12oz can. Pours a slightly hazy brownish orange color with over an inch of head. Lots of lacing. Citrus hop aroma of lime, tangerine, lemon and grapefruit. The taste is lemon and lime, grapefruit and straw. Lightly toasted malts and citrus at the end. Medium body with lots of carbonation and a dry mouthfeel. Mild alcohol warmth.
