This is one is a solid black saison with a modest but decent almond colored bit of head and delicate whispers of lace. The aroma is incredible with deep cherry chocolate malt paired with sharp funky yeast. I get yellow raisin cinnamon and toasted rhubarb. Complex and so uniquely beautiful. The flavor jumps into more of the tart cherry rhubarb theme that bites a bit at the back if you palate. The malt is still present for sure but it takes a bit if a back seat as you first get into it. I chilled this but it definitely benefits from warming to something closer to room temperature. Prune malt and subtle chocolate with a leafy hop hint. It really grows on you. The body is solidly medium with a smooth, modestly carbonated feel. Relic once again shows that it leads the way for Connecticut craft brewing. A true artisan!
