On-tap at Schank's (nice that they all of Village's tap handles - a good addition to Coors Light and Canadian)
Arrived slightly cloudy, orangish color with a firm white head.
First smell is the citrusy hops, also some tropical fruit.
Good amount of bitterness in the taste, well balanced with some bready malt and caramel. Nice bitterness to finish.
Medium body and carbonation level, decent mouthfeel'
A very nice, sessional IPA. Not too sharp or overly bitter.
I think I will have another.

1.89L growler from the Co-op Liquor Store in Okotoks last weekend, after visiting family.

This beer pours a rather cloudy golden amber hue, with two fingers of puffy, silky, and loosely foamy ecru head, which leaves some decent sudsy paint splatter lace around the glass as it gradually recedes.

It smells of floral, almost perfumed and soapy notes right off the bat, followed by some middling fleshy citrus (maybe orange and pineapple?), wet forest floor, grainy pale malt, a touch of caramel, and a mild savoury spiciness. The taste is grainy, lightly biscuity pale malt, subtle hard toffee, more orange, lemon, and pine needle acridity, a soft green herbal mustiness, a suggestion of wet ash, the warmth, if not the flavour of mixed peppercorns, and further earthy, leafy, and floral hops.

The bubbles are fairly light and innocuous, barely emitting a tic here and there, the body medium-light in weight, and generally smooth, the hops taking a short swing at interference here, but to no real effect. It finishes off-dry, the pleasantly biscuity, bready malt doing well to keep me interested, as the heretofore impressive hops start their long, winding circle around the drain.

A rather enjoyable, complex, and ultimately drinkable session IPA, or ISA, now, I suppose. The antipodean hops draw you in with their exotic floral allure, the solid West Coast bittering hops make you comfortable, and the malt does a grand job of keeping everything honest. Glad I got to grab a healthy (wait, what?) serving of the current Village seasonal for once, and I shall be enjoying the rest of it on my (supposedly) sunny deck for tomorrow's TGIF merry-making.

Appearance - Pours a cloudy amber nectar with a finger width of bubbly white head.

Smell - Citrus hops, tropical fruit (passion fruit and guava), bready malts.

Taste - Moderately bitter citrus hops along with tangy tropical fruit, bready malts and a hint of caramel. Finishes with a clean bitterness.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Overall - Village delivers a nice India Session Ale with a great citrus hop profile and tropical fruit flavour. This seasonal brew steps up their game even more. I appreciate the "#Growlers for Good" cause that gives back to the arts community.

On tap somewhere in Kensington (Calgary) 21/12/15

A very murky orange liquid, looks like juice, top filled pint has a thin film that falls fast but manages to leave some random lace

S floral, vitamin C chewables, grapefruit, orange peel, some spruce and pineapple juice

T similar but a little more pine, some sweet grains, citrus rind, more intense than the nose, everythings stronger

M medium bodied and creams up, a nice bitter snap, fine grit everywhere, orange peel finish

O solid ISA, well made, bitter as I like them but still very drinkable

Not sure how I've never reviewed this hoppy local, easily the best brew from Villages regular lineup

Too much citrus for my liking. I think many people would like this beer, but it isn't for me.

Sampled on tap at Original Joe's. This is an ISA that does everything it should. The light look, smell and mouthfeel are all "just right". The taste has substance - malt, saltines, tea and tobacco hints. Overall, this is safe and solid.
