Brewed by:
Community Beer Works
New York, United States

Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.20%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Simcoe and Galaxy hops are melded with a honeyed malt base to produce a libation of eyebrow-arching and cackling goodness. The nose yields honeydew, bright pit fruit and a note of dank earth, while the flavor adds unrelenting bitterness with just enough relief in the long finish from grainy, slightly sweet malts.

Multiple samples at the nano-brewery. Yellow bodied and some head. Very lacy. 50-60 IBU and felt higher. Fragrant. Galaxy and Simcoe lends a nice citrus orange. Would be a good cask, as overcarbonated. A tweak or two and can be really tasty and really drinkable.

32oz growler filled at the brewery, poured into a snifter.

Pours out a very cloudy pale yellow orange color with a big full white head that fades to a nice thin layer with lots of sticky lacing. Pale and cloudy.

Fairly dank, orange citrus, citrus of all kinds, slightly catty, a bit of graininess comes in as it warms.

Again, some nice citrus with a nice addition of pine. Bits of tropical fruit and catty hops come in every now and then with a bit of dankness. Some good even hop bitterness lingers in the finish. Mostly hop forward, but a bit of light doughy grain is noticeable.

Medium to light in body, nice smooth carbonation.

A solid iPa with lots of nice favors. Very fresh tasting. I could come back to this again and again, very drinkable.

A- Pours a medium yellow gold color with a thin creamy layer with delicate carbonation.

S - Light passionfruit and floral citrus, but bright with a crisp character in the nose. The malt is non-existent in the aroma.

T - Juicy passion fruit with floral and light citrus all the way through, light biscuity malt buried underneath gives it just enough sweetness to tame the hops "a little bit". Assertive floral and citrus bitterness ends the experience for a lingering finish along with some passion fruit rind coating the tongue.

M - Light medium body, sprightly carbonation on the tongue with moderate pricklies and finishes dry.

O - A hop forward IPA with some West Coast attitude. With an ABV in the low 6's, this is an IPA I could enjoy multiple glasses of in one sitting. Nicely done, but only available at Pizza Plant in the Buffalo area.

On tap at Blue Monk:

Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow with bright orange edges. Eggshell white head sticks around and leaves good lacing. Aroma of slightly sweet malts, lots of citrus and floral hop notes. Great nose. Taste follows the nose superbly. Bitter with great hop flavor, balanced well with a sweet, dry finish. Dare I say the best IPA brewed in Buffalo? Absolutely! A well balanced IPA that is very drinkable, I will reach for this again.

Pours a hazy yellow from a growler filled at the farmer's market. Nice 1\2 inch white head leaves nice lacing. Wonderful, citrusy and dank nose. Bitter up front with a slightly sweet finish that balances the hops very well. Perfect hop flavor. Carbonation is spot on for style.

Overall a delicious IPA and at 6%, easy to drink. It's hoppy but wont destroy your palate. Only flaw I see is the haziness which is really just nitpicking.

Growler from the Elmwood farmer's market in Buffalo, NY. Poured into my Southern Tier tulip.

An IPA with copious amounts of Galaxy and Simcoe? Sign me the hell up! Pours a beautifully cloudy, hazy, pale orange-yellow. 1 inch of head, sticky lacing all the way down.

Smells dank, resinous, juicy, and wonderful. Tons of fruit- orange and pineapple primarily, with some pine sap.

The taste is similar. Juicy, fresh tropical fruit notes are kicked back by a genuinely big hop bitterness. Coats your mouth with sticky dank hoppy goodness. No malt character that I can detect. Just a hop explosion here, really. It helps that I am drinking this very fresh.

Medium bodied, crisp mouthfeel, well carbonated.

Possibly the best IPA brewed in Western NY. Three Heads The Kind and OT 20 duke it out with this for supremacy. The hop combination really leads to some great flavors.
