On tap at River North. Pours a perfect golden straw color with fluffy white head that held extremely well. Very good lacing. Aroma was a cornucopia of smells: light/sweet malt, lightly spiced, some oakiness, some wine-like fruit, and an earthy whiskey. Taste was all of that deliciousness but on the tongue. Medium body and medium carbonation made this coat my mouth in all of those wonderful flavors. In all honesty, this is the best blonde I've ever tasted.

Thanks to GRG1313 for sharing this one at his tasting.

Pours a murky light yellow-orange with a foamy bone head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, fruit, rye, whiskey, and vermouth aromas. Taste is much the same with grain, fruit, whiskey, and wood flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of wood bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with an interesting use of the base beer aged in different barrels and then blended together.

Serving type: bottle.

Pale yellow body; lively, fine-bubbled carbonation; very thick, dense, rocky white head; globs of white foam and lacing all down the glass. Strong pine scent with an undercurrent of citrus; white wine-like character. Burgundy wine and toasted cereal grain flavor initially; acidic and phenolic quality to the flavor; oak-like woodiness; sour apple. Medium bodies; crisp; very dry finish.

A most unique and very interesting pale ale. I assume there Brettanomyces yeast play going on here due to the dryness and general funkiness throughout the beer flavor. What is nice is that everything seem to have joined together nicely, producing a distinct depth and complexity within the taste and mouthfeel qualities of the beer. It's dry, it's funky, it's easy drinking, it's uniquely distinctive in flavor. I believe the bottle I have is the second iteration of this beer (the label lists 147 cases being produced). Here's hoping that River North will produce it again.
