Twice barrel aged Belgian-style imperial dark ale.
Deep, dark, decidedly delicious. Aged first in Colorado bourbon, then Colorado whiskey barrels.

Cellared a year. Dubbels, there aren't enough of them out there, so while I feared this style would hold up against a double barrel treatment, I still wanted to try. Murky amber brown with a tan head. Plus double dubbel is just too satisfying. Smell works out with massive dark fruit, especially fig and plum, with whiskey, medium toned oak, and a touch of vanilins, certainly boozy smelling overall. Taste is as feared though, as it did not stand up to the barrels, the wood is especially is overpowering, the otherwise dark fruit forward dubbel. Thin, bodied, and hot, belgian yeast is gone in a second, evaporated by hot booze. Darn

Auburn colored body; decent carbonation; head starts thin and then fades to a bare wisp. Big roasted grain and charred sugar aroma; a suggestion of figs and dates; roasted nuts; woody. Rich, boozy flavor; heavy sweetness; figs; alcohol presence but not dominating. Heavy body; warm and boozy.
This is a nice, approachable barrel-aged dubbel. The appearance suffers from its weak head, but the aroma and flavor are warm and inviting.

Poured from a 500ml bottle into a Speiglau BA glass.
Look is a dark hazy brown with a thin white head.
Aroma is bourbon vanilla and a light roasted malt.
Taste is smooth vanilla bourbon.
Delicious
