on tap at bike café, this is a really special brew. it pours a glowing light brown color with an almost nitro style head, just off white and a few inches tall. the nose is old musty oak, bourbon, and a lot of malt, both English and American. caramel sweetness and vanilla are in there as well. the malt flavor of this beer is awesome, sweet, but unconventionally so. its almost like cola or something, although much less artificial of course. the malt moves this beer, and I don't get much discernible hops out of it, but the barrel sort of takes its place, balancing things out and providing a contrast to the sweetness of the grains. alcohol is present, but not toxic, and the finish is long and mellow, with complexities slowly unfolding. this is a nice glass of beer to sip on, let get warm for awhile, and see how it changes. river north is one of the best in Denver, and this is further testament to that.

Thanks to GRG1313 for sharing this one at his tasting.

Pours a murky orange with a foamy khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, and caramel aromas. Taste is much the same with caramel and grain flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer but I am not getting any whiskey barrel aging on this one.

Pours a bit flat. Deep mahogany color with slow rising toffee colored bubbly foamy head.

Lots of Belgian aromas, bready, dry, toffee, caramel, slight apple tartness.

Thin, mouthy deep feel, complex, maltey, heavy yeast flavors, lots of "tarted" toffee, mild sweet red apple, perfect low carbonation, nice drinkability, well rounded.

A damn unique brew. Glad I tired it, but will not be ISO of more @ $17/750ml.. A bit too steep. Also, the sweetness is a bit weird, but not too off-putting.
