22 oz bottle, poured into a mug at approximately 40 degrees F.

Appearance: Pours a deep, clear mahogany red-brown, and forms quite a thick pile of fluffy, yellow-tan head, which leaves crazy lacing on the sides of the mug.

Smell: Sweet malt, all caramel, no toffee. There's something akin to cotton candy in the nose as well, adding to the sweetness. Imagine a non-honey, non-cinnamon sticky bun, where it's just a slightly dark bread dough and a sugary glaze. There are also hints of cherry and plum in the aroma.

Taste: Dark bread drizzled with caramel sweetness greets the tongue as the beer enters the mouth. As it moves along, subtle hints of toffee appear around the edges, and a swirl of nuts and fruit makes itself known. A blend of chestnut and walnut, with some distinct cherry and subtle raisin notes. By the finish, a slight tone of soil creeps in, leaving an aftertaste that is equal parts bready, sweet, and earthy.

Mouthfeel: Silky smooth, sticky, and creamy, this is on the heavier side of medium-bodied, and nails the doppelbock mouthfeel.

Overall: Thus far, this is the closest US attempt at a doppelbock to a Celebrator/Korbinian that I have tried and been able to review. Triple Digit seemed to embrace the concept of doppelbock as liquid bread, and I appreciate the heck out of them for it. This will definitely be a repeated beer for me, whenever available.

12 Fl. Oz. bottle
Served in a pokal glass

This beer pours tea colored and is topped with an inch of tan head that leaves little lacing.

The aroma is brown sugar, date, fig, and raisin.

The taste is sweet with much of what I smelled coming through in the taste.

Medium mouthfeel

It seems to lack a little in body. It pairs well with goat chops!

Light brown color with medium head and leaves a skim. Not much scent but slight malt. Sweet malty taste. Smooth light body and light carbonation. Honestly this beer is lacking way to much taste for a double doppelbock

Kind of a little metallic with some caramel breadyness on the nose

Lots of molasses and sugary malt backbone. Caramel and just tons of sugar. Far too sweet for my liking.

Very nice mouthfeel. Almost creamy.

overall it's too sweet. I love dopplebocks but this one is kinda an overkill on the unfermented sugars.
