Pours black with a 1 finger head. Aroma- grape juice, red wine, cherry, brown sugar, nutty, chocolate. Taste-dark chocolate, metallic flavors, some fruity flavors. Mouthfeel is pretty smooth and slick. Overall- I will re rate this again in case this is off or something. But it's like a stout mixed with red wine. Not terribly great.

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with some tan wispy lacing on the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of dark malts and associated oak and vanilla from the bourbon are present in the nose.
T: As in the smell, the taste is dominated by flavors from the bourbon barrel aging and has lots of vanilla and oak.
M: It feels full-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is all about the bourbon, but you don't get much of the underlying stout. There are hints of alcohol burn in the finish.

L) It looks like a traditional RIS. Pours an opaque dark brown, verging on black, with a creamy tan head.

S) The aroma is very toasted malt and dark fruit focused. The roastiness is intense, but the belgian candy and date is overwhelming.

T) Everything detected on the nose is in the taste, with the addition of some coffee, cocoa, and lovely dark toffees. There is a noticeable off-putting acrid taste however. Perhaps too much black malt is causing the astringency, which is a shame, because the profile would be near perfect without the slight defect.

F) The mouth-feel is silky and creamy, with medium to low carbonation. The head itself retains a creamy texture throughout the pint.

O) This is a great RIS, I just wish the slight astringent bittering notes it possesses were less noticeable, my review would probably be significantly higher if they were absent.

A - Dark brown-black body, inky, sticky, with a moderate dark tan head, persistent and a wall of lacing.

S - Big alcohol, roasted notes, chocolate elements.

T - Warm, sharp notes of ashy blackened malts, dark fruits, raisins and plums, hints of dark chocolate, bitter bite in the close.

M - Viscous and sticky, mild carbonation, mild drying in the close.

O - A touch too ashy, but overall, one surprisingly good RIS.
