Notes / Commercial Description:
As our flagship ale, Zeke (thatʼs what we can it), is a text book example of the word “Bad Ass”. A grainy malty yet wonderfully hoppy ale. Loud and mysterious, Zeke is a wheel that is well rounded and perfect for any drinking conspiracy.

An extremely well balanced Pale Ale. Some may call it an IPA, and it could easily be put into that category. This is my go to beer whenever it's available!

I have had this several times from bottle and draft. It is always tasty but the newer version really rock. They changed the hop schedule and it still has a great flavor and aroma but less bitterness. Much more like a big, bad, pale ale.

The nose on this beer is amazing. This is apparently the first batch of their new brewhouse....absolutely delicious. Tropical hops with note of mango and pineapple. Wozers

Bottled 1/20/15 enjoyed 2/2/15

Appearance: Clear orange, white head that leaves nice blotches of lacing.

Aroma: Huge citrus notes. Grapefruit juice, orange peel.

Flavor: Dominant hop flavor of citrus juice. Hop bitterness is very smooth, practically no astringency. Grain bill comes through as a great mix of light breads.

Mouthfeel: Medium-low carbonation, but still a dissipating and refreshing finish with no lingering astringency.

Overall: As good as or better than any APA on the BA top list I've had. PsuedoSue ain't got shit on Zeke.

The beer comes in a rich strawberry color, a dark reddish amber.

The aroma hits of sweet citrus, pine, spicy resinous, some sweet floral, and a caramel sweetness. A touch of tropical.

The flavor follows with a big general theme of spicy resinous pine. Then onto lots of grapefruit, orange peel. Almost an orange candy with its touch of sugary sweetness.

A beer that reminds me of Three Floyds, Pipeworks, and La Cumbre's hoppy.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a cloudy amber brown with a large white head. The aroma is full of hops and malt. The taste is hoppy and is well balanced. A real good beer.

From a keg brewed on Nov 9, 2015 and purchased Dec 10, 2015. This is one of my favs! I picked up a 6-pack a few months ago and was very impressed so I tried a keg. Every beer I have had from this brewery has been outstanding! This is a clean, crisp, full bodied pale ale with expressive hoppiness and rich, round maltiness. This is a IPA lovers beer. Fantastic

A: Deep, hazy orange color, thin dense white head, superb lacing

S: Good amount of floral and citrus hops

T: Bitter, floral, citrus, sweet caramel malts in background

M: Medium

O: A really good pale ale. You can tell this one is quality, I would put it up against a much more popular pale ale from the same area. This is the first one Ive had from Burnt Hickory and I look forward to more from them.

Appearance: Yellow-orange body, delicately hazed, with a moderately-sized, white head.

Smell: Faintly toasted white bread slices gently soaked in citrus juices with supporting notes of grain, caramel, and flowers.

Taste: Opens with bready pale malted barley with a thin glaze of sweet caramel. Floral, citrusy hops yielding tones of lemon, tangerine. Medium degree of hop bitterness. Drying and endearingly fruity on the back half and through the near-crisp finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-plus carbonation.

Overall: Reasonably malty, fruity hop profile, refreshing and nicely carbonated. If the Burnt Hickory Brewery was a country its chief export would be smiles.

22 oz bottled on 4-7 (written in sharpie). 6 months old, I work at a retail store and a sales rep for the distributor gave me credit for so we decided to taste it. Pours a deep gold with off white two inch head that leaves alot of lacing. Smell is sweet caramel and biscuit. Taste is about the same with a hint of orange and bitter citrus in the back end. I can tell the hops have faded :( Moderate feel with average carbonation. Good beer that I bet is great fresh. Cheers!

16oz growler, kegged November 28, 2012. Served at around 45F.

Pours slightly hazy amber with a two finger white head that leaves impressive rings of clumpy lacing and holds a good cap.

Aroma is mandarin oranges, melons, fruity, citrus, a bit of banana, belgian yeast character, unique. Very good strength.

Flavor is more mandarin orange, citrus, belgian yeast, banana, melons, bready malt with a bit of caramel, mild alcohol, moderate sweetness, moderate bitterness.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied, a little sticky, somewhat creamy, good carbonation.

Very nice Pale Ale, very unique. Is this fermented with Belgian yeast or just a very fruity example of the style? Dunno, but it’s good.

On tap.
Excellent head over a lightly hazy copper-amber body that is topped by a durable off-white head.
This has a very earthy-hop mix that is not my cup of tea.
Moderate+ bitterness for style.

On tap at the open house on 2/16.

Appearance: Pours a clear orange color with a huge pillowy white head. Looks clean.

Smell: Smells of grass, pine, and hops.

Taste - Taste is clean hops and a bready backbone.

Mouthfeel: Nice carbonation. Light mouthfeel and easy to drink.

Overall: Good pale ale.

Reviewed 5-25-15. Dogfish head tulip. Bomber dated 1-20-15.

Appearance: Pours a bright copper with 2+ fingers of fluffy sandy colored, thick head. Very active carbonation. Obscure lacing.

Aroma: Super tropical. Resiny. This is a pale ale? (My allergies are acting up, but this is VERY aromatic). Sweet. A little alcohol. Still, not as aromatic as other reviews would make it out to be.

Taste: Malty, bitter arrival, slightly sweet and fruity middle turning to an extremely bitter and lingering finish. Really bitter taste lingers.

Mouthfeel: Pretty hefty. Heavier side of midweight; less carbonated than the appearance lets on.

Overall: Too hoppy for a pale ale, a bit malty for an IPA. Don't know that I'd buy this again. Alcohol on the aroma was very mild, but all told, I still like the Boston Ale, SNPA, and Columbus Pale better.

A - Deep straw coloe, white lace that recedes quickly to the rim of the glass

S - Grainy malt dominates with balanced (if slightly underwhelming) hop aroma with general citrus characteristics

T - Again, grainy malt hits first. There seems to be a slight astringency, possibly from grain, but feels more like alcohol, maybe a hotness... Hops really seem present just to balance the beer and not necessarily to play. A little sweet, but balanced but firm bitterness.

M - reminds me of SNPA, god weight, although can become heavy and slightly sticky. Again, there's a slight astringency that persists

O - decent pale ale, fairly clean other than slight, very slight astringency/alcohol heat issues. I would prefer more hops, but this is certainly appropriate for style.

absolutely terrible. from the reviews here, it would seem that i just got a bad bottle, but who knows. this tastes like straight vodka. huge alcohol burn / taste. same for the nose. only a faint bit of tropical hops.
