32oz growler poured into a Duvel tulip

A - Pours a pale lemony yellow golden color, mild haze, lots of lively carbonation, and a thin finger of white foam that lingers for several minutes leaving faint traces of lace on the glass.

S - Floral, perfumey aroma up front, a bit herbal, mildly tart, somewhat white winey, grapey, apples, phenolic.

T - Heavily brett influenced flavors here. Big bitter, earthy brett hit right up front, lots of woody oak flavors. In the background are apples and grapes, lemony and limey citrus, mildly tart, lightly alcoholic, fairly phenolic/band-aidy towards the finish fading into a dry biscuit-like maltiness after the swallow.

M - Thinnish body with a lowish-medium carbonation. Plenty of earthy brett, citrus, apples. Sour and tart character is quite light, acidic and fruity in a bit of pinot grigio sort of way with apples taking the lead in this department. As the beer warms a bit green apples linger forever past the swallow.

O - A bit torn on this...technically speaking, I'm not sure this is a truly great wild ale. Balance is off - brett totally dominates this (beyond ideal...and I LOVE brett beers). Nice mix of floral, citrus, and fruity wine-ish flavors that becomes overpowering in the green apple flavors as it warms and I get deeper into this growler...solo, I might add. Would I ever compare this to a Lost Abbey, Allagash or Russian River wild...probably not, but I do enjoy this quite a bit. Different...maybe delightfully off-balance - but I like it.
