Appearance: Arrives cloudy and honey colored with a pillowy white head; a few strands of lacing lacing around the glass.

Smell: Citrusy, with passionfruit, tangerine and lime tones; a hint of dank pine

Taste: Passionfruit and tangerine forward, with some lime adding a tangy edge; dank and piney, through the middle, with just a touch of residual sweetness

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation; surprisingly light, given the ABV

Overall: A very nice DIPA but I am glad I came by the night after the release rather than having to deal with the crowd

Poured from a tallboy into a snifter, the beer is a cloudy, opaque, orange-peach coloring, looking like a glass of juice, with a halo of clingy white head. Aromas of orange juice, peach puree, spicy pine needles, dried grass, and some earthy highlights. Flavors are very juicy forward, heavy on orange and grapefruit, but with some solid peach and pineapple notes in there, too. Pepper spiced and herbal hops characteristics level it out, with dried grass and pine needle notes, too. Very dynamic and very well balanced on a mid-body with a solid dry, acidic edge. The aftertaste is all juice, sweet and acidic, lingering on past the slick, juicy, and somehow slightly dry finish. Really tasty, juicy beer.

I Never Sleep looks like melted butter. The completely opaque yellowish liquid is capped by a relatively thin and unstable foamy off white head that retreats to leave just a ring around the edge of the glass.

We have some juice here people. Straight up mango, pineapple, and guava puree. I smell nothing else.

The flavor shares the same sentiments, but with a punch of something I can't quite place. That's it! Hawaiian Punch. Sprinkle in that passion fruit, apricot, and even apples, and that's exactly what you've got. Some yeasty yogurt and a touch of alcohol to finish it off.

As implied with all previous elements, this feels like fruit juice. Rich, smooth,a little prickly even, but not just from the carbonation. The alcohol is a tad warm, but not harsh by any means.

Another great offering from Monkish. The problem is, there are few that I want over and over again. Though delicious and very enjoyable, this is not one of them either. Cheers.

Sample at Mikkeller Beer Celebration Copenhagen 2018, Yellow Session. Taste is mostly hoppy but not as intense as other Monkish IPAs. Taste follows hoppy, bitter, herbal on the finish.

Canned 7/2/16 (I think?). Consumed 7/20/16 in Brooklyn (notably, after the can made the 2500-mile journey in 90+ degree heat).

A: Very similar in appearance to the beer it was released with (Atomically). Ultra hazy light orange / yellow-gold, almost like grapefruit juice mixed with pineapple juice. Pillowy white head of big soapy bubbles fades slowly leaving thick lacing around the glass.

S: Citrusy, but not overpowering by any means. Orange and a bit of lime from the Motueka. Fruity, but not overly sweet like candied/dried fruit. Fresh pine. Somewhat more muted than I expected after downing Atomically yesterday.

T: An excellent example of balance, as no single flavor pops out. The array of subtle flavors that arrive at various points is diverse and very enjoyable. Passionfruit, tangerine, and, some tangy lemon/lime from the Motueka are all apparent. Light yeast. Some piney dankness on the backend, but, again, nothing overpowering. The Moteuka/Citra/yeast all play very well together, making this extremely crushable for 8.4%.

M: Soft, light mouthfeel overall just adds to the drinkability. Low carbonation. Pretty substantial bitterness on the medium dry finish. Not the slightest hint of malt/alcohol, even as the beer warmed.

O: This is a beer that I could drink a lot of. It goes down easily and enjoyable, and I believe it shows off the Motueka hop quite well. The Monkish yeast and Citra hops are less prominent here, but the balance achieved in this beer is outstanding. It's one that should satisfy fans of both east coast and west coast IPAs.
