750ml cork and caged bottle. Served in a stemmed glass. Pours a darker brown, slightly amber hued, one finger white head that is short lived with no lacing. Smell is tannic sort of red vinous grape character, stone fruit, moderate-heavy lactic acid, a touch of lemon and perhaps maybe a little leathery funk, though I am probably stretching that last bit a bit. Mostly fruit and a mix of lactic and acetic acid. Flavour is a nice punch of moderate-heavy lactic acid, but with a nice dark fruit presence, almost minimal lemon, moderate stonefruit and a touch of tannin. Not really much leather or funk on the palate. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, heavy on the vinegar and can be tough on those folks that are quick to reach for their tums. Lower carbonation than expected for the style but certainly sufficient. A fairly mouth-puckering tart dark saison with a fair bit of dark fruit behind it. Not for the lighter toned gastroesophageal junctions!

Appearance: Arrives the color of tawny port; the head is firm and leaves dots and dashes of lacing behind
Smell: Tart currant and earthy black cherry tones with funk; oaky tones, too
Taste: Lactic currant flavors forward with earthy black cherry and funk building; the middle brings the barrel and the finish is puckery
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation
Overall: A very tasty beer, that pushes out a range of complex fruit flavors
