Brewed with 100% Centennial hops from the Pacific Northwest and named after the Two Hearted River in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, this IPA is bursting with hop aromas ranging from pine to grapefruit from massive hop additions in both the kettle and the fermenter.

Perfectly balanced with a malt backbone and combined with the signature fruity aromas of Bell's house yeast, this beer is remarkably drinkable and well suited for adventures everywhere.

Picked this up in Ohio on my way back from the HoF run. I had no idea that this was in the BA Top 100 for beers brewed in the United States but after having half of this, it's pretty obvious why. Not only is this one tasty and well-crafted beer, but it was good enough to both "sneak up on me", but also to make me wish that I had picked up another bottle or two. I haven't had an IPA in quite a long time since most of them tend to be hop bombs or caught up in an arms race for the taste buds. This is totally different than those, as it may be the mnost subtle and balanced IPA that I've ever had. Yes, you heard me right!

The pour for this was truly amazing - even better than SNPA, which has been my benchmark as long as I can remember. I've never (and I mean, never!) seen a beer whose head lasted as long as this. It filled up my pint glass about 90% of this was poured out and part of it remained in my glass more than 2/3 of my way through this. Needless to say, the accompanying lacing was long-lasting as well, and the beautifully luminescent goldenrod hue only added to this beer's allure. This had an opaque radiance to it and the bubbles were also a sight to behold - once again, as numerous and distinctive as those in SNPA, but even longer-lasting. The taste was the shocker...yes, there's floral hops here but there's an incredible balance with the busuity maltness that is almost too good to be true. This doesn't have a dry-hopped aftertaste to it like so many other IPA's tend to have. This is a bit more on the resin side of things - no citru or metallic notes here. Just a bit of lemon and waxy resin to back things up. Nothing overpowering!

7.00% ABV? Can this be? I'm not even feeling any alcohol as I drink this. It's there, but you'll have to look and sip hard to find it. This is perfect for the state in which it was brewed, since the summers there are a bit less harsh than those in most of the rest of the United States. I'm not sure where the two hearted reference ties in but it if it has anythign to do with the malt and hops, than this beer is more than worthy of it's moniker. Arguably the best IPA I've ever had!

Medium amber/light copper, mostly clear. Moderate white head.
Smells of pine, citrus, caramel, light yeast bread.
Bracing bitterness is tamed by the citrus/grapefruit and slightly sweet malt. There is a pleasant lingering bitterness that is very satisfying. Despite the high abv, the mouthfeel is medium dry. It’s very drinkable, I wouldn’t recommend this if you’re new to beer styles other than typical American mass produced lagers.
I have had this many times over the years and just realized I’ve never reviewed it.

I've always been so swayed by the brook trout on the can. I just love the fish, okay? Women love me & fish fear me. No, sorry, that's not true. I'm a woman. I just like fish. Did you know that trout have two hearts? Anyway. I like it better than most beers. There's nothing going on in the nose. However, the taste is a pleasant and balanced bitterness with enough malt to provide the necessary depth. It's not overly bitter for the sake of making a point; it just tastes good. I would happily drink this any day. Not sure whether I prefer this, which showcases the bitterness of hops and has a "natural" smell, or Bell's Cold Hearted, which showcases the green, herbaceous, pine-y hops flavor with that strange green apple-y note. Both are just really solid beers at their price point. I've had Bell's Two Hearted more times than I can count, so it's hard to review. Try it. Do it for the fish.

This is one of my favorites. OG WC taste and feel to it . Good complex taste profile showcasing hoppy bitterness without being jarring.

Also widespread distribution and availability makes me gravitate towards it even more.

This one is sort of the Beer Advocate OG for me. Someone told me it was rated #1 before I had any idea what BA was.... fairly long time ago and a lot of beers have come & gone since. I have relatives in Michigan and was on this one early, but this one is pretty well distributed now where anyone can get it anytime.

12 oz bottle poured into an Angler's Pint. Color is a nice orange, copper. Beautiful, foamy head. Taste is hop forward with a bitter follow. Nice lacing as I drink it. Very smooth and very well done.

Pours deep gold with moderate clarity. Nice amount of pine and grapefruit aroma. A good amount of malt characteristics balance the hop bitterness. I'm usually not a fan of IPAs but this isn't bad, not bad at all.

Beautiful tall very persistent off white head like shaving cream, over a hazy orange/gold liquid. leaves lots of lacing. smell is subtle, but consistent with the nice balanced flavor of hoppy+malty goodness. A nice amount of bitterness. Overall a classic example of an American IPA
