Oberon has returned! I had been craving one for quite some time. This beer is the embodiment of Spring/Summer. It reminds me of warm summer afternoons mowing the lawn, grilling steaks on the deck with friends and family, or laying out on the beach overlooking Lake Michigan. It is very well balanced with a more banana, lemon, and orange taste upfront with a slight hop bitterness on the backend. Not sure if your supposed to do this with American Pale Wheat's but I left two-thirds in the bottle and swirled. It made the appearance slightly cloudier and had a more yeasty flavor to it. Very carbonated and refreshing throughout. I would consider this a session ale even with the ABV above 5%. I can't wait for the 16oz cans later this month!

Cheers!

Bottle dated 03/20/2014, opened 04/05/2014

A: Pours a cloudy gold. A slightly aggressive pour yields a 2 finger white head which dissipates to a rim with a small cap. I wish there was more retention.

S: Wheat, citrus zest, some nice spice in there. A little bit of funkiness, which is unexpected but enjoyable. Nose reminds me a little bit of a saison.

T: Nice toasted/bread malt. Citrus and pepper spice. Herbal hops. I don't think this beer really fits into a category. An enjoyable warm weather beer.

M: Medium with complimentary carbonation. Almost creamy, but the carb cuts that.

O: Enjoyable warm weather beer.

Pours a hazy lemon yellow, softly pastel with a finger of white foam that fell fast. Nose is golden wheat with a bit of sweetness on it. Bright lemon zest rounds out the nose. Taste is a bit maltier than I expected. medium light rather than light. The mouthfeel is creamy and has plenty of carbonation to keep that in check. The wheat is crisp and dry. The middle of the beer is juicy with sweet lemon peel and tart lemon too. There is a bit of a sour taste lurking in the shadows that never really steps out but it gives the drink a slight pucker. The middle of the beer is juicy with fruit. Refreshing and crisp with a drying finish.

Great beer, not as strong as I remember but I still enjoy it. It came out on march 23 and I just bought it for the first and definitely not the the last time of the season. I believe this is the best beer Bell's makes. In my opinion the mini keg does taste a little better than the bottle.
