12oz bottled 4/25/17 poured into a snifter at fridge temp 6% ABV. The beer pours dense dark brown to black with light brown head. Aroma is rich with roast malt, chocolate and coffee. The taste is charred roast malt up front giving way to a lighter black coffee finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, adequately carbonated and dry in the finish. Overall, good. I'm admittingly trying this at the end of its shelf life. Still good but I imagine the aroma and flavor popped much more 6 months ago. This beer is worth a try or retry, in my case.

Kalabazoo is a fantastic stout. Just love the molasses and complex brew consisting of roasted malt, thick caramel, and a slew of other flavors that will knock your socks off. Well Done Bell's Well Done!!!

From a twelve ounce bottle....thick and dark...black and topped with rich tan head. The aroma is of roasted gain and distant anise. Full and velvety mouthfeel. The beer is somewhat drier than expected. This is a worthwhile and drinkable stout. Thick and substantial body.

L: Black body, mocha colored head.

S: Dark chocolate, burnt malt.

T&F: Creamy smooth texture. Dark fruit and dark chocolate flavors. Some slight licorice notes. Maybe a little bit of coffee-like bitterness at the end as well.

O: Normally I don't like licorice in beer, but in a good stout it just seems to work well for me. Not my favorite stout, but still very good.

12 oz. bottle poured into a tulip glass

L---Dark, opaque, black color. Thick, tannish head that left quickly, but left nice lacing.

S---Sweeter than I would have thought. Chocolate/coffee, mostly.

T---. A bit bitter. A nice, choclatey bitter, though. Roasted tastes also (coffee).

F---Creamy. Bitterness doesn't lend astringency. Mild, but sufficient, carbonation.

O---A very nice stout. Didn't notice any of the licorice it was brewed with, but still very nice.

Pitch black with a tan, fluffy head. Slight lacing on the glass. Typical stout aroma with some sweetness in the nose. Not as much in the flavor, but this was past the recommended shelf life. Good body.
