We all know that hops nudge up against herbal, grassy, and leafy qualities, but the Bell's brewers churn out an American pale ale that celebrates that urge- to overcome its citrusy underpinnings and to promote the vegetation of beer in its bright and radiant form.

Pale copper and with a faint haze, the beer's scent rolls onto the nose with lemon, grapefruit, orange and a grassy and herbal counterpart that radiates soundly to the nose. Its taste is pleasant with caramel, angel-food and an overall graham cracker tone.

The middle palate relinquishes the bulk of its sweetness and allows the citrus and herb to give way to a billowing bitterness of pine, grass, lemon and tea. Its malty backbone plays into the tea-like herbs and citrus hops by giving them an elegant, simple malt taste that rounds the bitterness gracefully.

Finishing clean, verbena-like and bitter, the crisp and refreshing flavors lead to malty-dry textures seamlessly. Spicy of lemongrass, lemon peel and sassafras, the beer's dryness is its redeeming property while the taste tightens and the brisk hop bite takes hold- perfect for American pizza, wings or a whole breadth of American food.
