pretty solid beer. body of a porter w some big char notes, but the flavoring is nice. lots of roasted chocolate and spices w all sorts of quadraphonic topplings tickling my taste buds reminding me of flowers and earth and candied fruit. nice one off, definitely worth checking out and a great finish to am up and down series.

Single bottle per customer limit at the local store, grabbed one to round out the collection. Poured with half a finger of nice mocha head, which unfortunately didn't stick around too long or provide much lacing. Smells of pepper and licorice, with the sweet molasses and maple syrup making just enough of a presence. Taste is a bit pepper/spice heavy for me, and I was really hoping the raisins and dates would factor in a little more strongly (they're there, don't worry), but the balance seems to get better as it approaches room-temp. It's good, and the mouthfeel is thick and smooth and rather right-on while still being more drinkable than it needs to be. Certainly not a let-down, even if the heat was a bit more than I look for in a beer. Solid, for sure. Many will enjoy this one...

This one is a definite must try if you can find it.
So much good going on with this beer, right amount of heat from the peppers rounded out with the sweetness from the molasses. Everything works in perfect harmony. Wish Bells would keep this one around.

On tap at the Eccentric Cafe.

Wow. This is everything it was said to be and more.

Thick mouthful, yet very balanced and drinkable. Perfect consistency. Flavors of chocolate, licorice and a bite of pepper on the end, with a twinge of lingering heat.
