Style: Dubbel

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.70%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
Originally conceived along the lines of a Belgian Dubbel, Hell Hath No Fury... Ale morphed during development into something entirely different. Blending a pair of Belgian abbey-style yeasts into a recipe more akin to a roasty stout, Hell Hath No Fury... Ale offers up warm, roasted notes of coffee & dark chocolate together with the fruity & clove-like aromas.

Pours black in color with dark brown highlights when held to the light. A nice brown colored head sits atop. Very stout looking beer.

The aroma is of Belgian yeast and dried dark stone fruit. Or alcoholic plums and raisins.

Dark cherries and raisins are present in the front. The finishing flavor is malty and slightly tart, which gives away to an iron-like blood aftertaste. (think when you cut your finger and without thinking quickly put it in your mouth).

It's definitely roasty, but something about the fruity flavors and the yeast choice doesn't seem to all fit together in harmony. It's more of a far-out experimental beer, and one that I probably wouldn't try again.

Thispoured softly and very brown with no real hues in it. a thick enough head of khaki foam. Nose is light and does not really scream belgian. But it is roasty with dark fruit and cocoa. Smooth creamy and a tasty. very soft mouthfeel. A bit of nutty flavor it has the flavors of a dubbel but for some reason it's too milky creamy. it drinks very differently. I still liked it.

Aroma is boozy, deeply caramelized, with dark fruit notes of cherry, plum, and raisin, along with pear esters, which contrast the light roast malt character oddly. There's a touch of smoke, which adds to the strangeness.

Flavor is smoky and roasty, with Belgian esters of pear and apple skin hitting mid palate and bringing a light sweetness, finishing dry and spicy. Didn't recall it being so dark.
