12oz bottle. 8/23/16 bottle date. Appearance: Black, opaque, with a low brown head that dissipates quickly. Aroma: Sweet chocolate, some bread crust, a light roasted coffee edge with a touch of cream. Overall aroma is low in intensity. Taste: Starts with bittersweet dark chocolate, followed by some bread crust, then turning to light coffee roast and moderate bitterness. Mouthfeel: Medium to heavy body with a velvety creaminess. Low carbonation. Finish: Leaves a dry, bitter, light roast. Overall: A very well balanced sweet stout that is a nice blend of chocolate, toast, and coffee with a creaminess that softens the roast and bitterness

I think this beer is really unique in terms of being pretty reserved, delicate, and easy drinking - but also providing layers of rich malty flavor. has some creamy milkyness to it, as well as sweet chocolate, hints of espresso, roasty malts, tobacco, leather, hints of dark fruit. mouthfeel is light/medium but maintains that nice creamy aspect that i enjoy in stouts. overall very impressive in its drinkability and flavor, nice job!!

A nice, if not exceptional stout. Quite good for when you want a stout that has milder flavors that don't assault your palate with strong coffee, tobacco, leather, cocoa.

This one pours nice and black with little head. Aroma is muted - a bit of chocolate. Flavor is mild - a bit sweet, with noticeable but not overwhelming chocolate notes. It's quite pleasant.

Texture is creamy, with a low amount of carbonation - but without tasting flat the way some stouts do.

I wouldn't go out of my way to find this again - however, if I see it on the shelf I might very well pick one up.

Poured from the tap into a 20 oz. mug at Taco Mac in Atlanta, GA. The appearance is a dark brown to black color with a tan head. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. The taste is malt heavy with chocolate and raisins.. Another excellent beer from Bell's

Bell's Special Double Cream Stout, 6.1% ABV, 25 IBU. Pours medium viscosity and black, with a two finger tan head which lift little lacing. Nose is malt, coffee, and chocolate. Taste follows, a bit sweet, malty, not much coffee or hop bitterness. Good mouthfeel, smooth, overall a pretty decent stout.

Pours a deep brown, looks black in the glass. I had to do quite a hard pour to get any head, but once it started forming, I got about an inch of creamy tan foam up top. This didn't stick around too long, receding to a ring around the edges of the glass. I get dark chocolate right away, with hints of darker fruits hiding in the back ground. Hints of the coffee can be found as well if you really put your nose in there.

Starts off with dark chocolate, complete with the fruity notes you usually get from the darkest of chocolates. This adds sweetness, which goes quite nicely when the coffee kicks in, leaving you with a coffee taste that's had a few sugars dumped in. The coffee does add a touch of bitterness that helps balance out what I would call a sweet beer. This bitterness stick around, even after the finish, along with some plum and raisin ish notes. All these flavors are pretty soft, and I wish they where a bit more aggressive. As is this is an easy drinking beer, with great flavors, but no flavor really stands out at all.

The beer has too much carbonation to really be smooth or creamy, a downfall for me. It's heavy, but the bite of bubbles in the middle really detracts from the overall experience for me. Still a good beer, but if given the choice, there are many others I would grab before this one.

Dark brown, nearly black body; thin head that quickly fades to wisp. Notes of coffee and roasted grains in the aroma. Milk chocolate taste with tones of nuts and tannins; bitter at the finish. Heavy body; smooth on the palate.

Had on tap at The Bag of Nails pub in Mansfield, Ohio. All around decent cream stout. Too bad the head isn't there, but it does deliver a fine rich, tasty stout.

Inky black pour with brown edges, and a nice tall 2 finger caramel head. Light lace left on the snifter.

Strongest note in the aroma is coffee, followed by half and half, and then some melted chocolate. Some roast barley also follows.

Both coffee and half & half are equally strongest here, followed by some lingering acidity, and semi-sweet bitter chocolate chips. The finish is heavy on burnt barley and light smoke.

Wet to start, then creamy, and dries out considerably. Roasted, dry finish.

Overall, Bell's Double Cream Stout was heavier on coffee than I thought, lending forth too much acidity and burnt notes. I wished for more chocolate, more cream, more sweetness. Alas it was not here. I probably won't purchase this six pack next year.

Poured into a tulip glass from a 12 oz bottle. It cascades very nicely as it settles into the glass, leaving a tan head. Pitch black, almost no light gets through. Leaves a sweet sticky lacing down the side.

Damn, I can smell it from 10 feet away. Chocolate, roasted malt, little bit of wood.

Taste brings a lot more wood than the smell. Heavy on the chocolate and roasted character. Fairly sweet. A little bitterness that seems out of place at the end. The bottle is a little old (packaged about 10 months ago), so I'm wondering how much that's playing into the character.

The feel lives up to its name. Super creamy and smooth. Fairly light on the palate, but the chocolate lingers a bit. A bit sticky due to all the sweetness.

Well I guess I'll need to try this again, this time with a fresher bottle. Really enjoyed this one, but I can tell that some aspects have been altered due to time.

Feel: It is somewhat creamy with a moderately bitter finish. It has a full body.

Overall this is a chocolate and creamy driven stout.

I'm glad Bells finally made it to Louisiana. This beer lives up to its name. Very creamy with a nice amount of chocolate and roastiness. Goes down very easy and gets high marks for mouthfeel.

Pours a deep, dark, cola brown, almost black, with light only getting through on the edges. Not as viscous to the eye as I expected, but very stouty nonetheless. A good three fingers of root beer float head that initially hung onto its fluffiness but collapsed into some sticky pacing as soon as I started sipping. Aroma is dominated by waves and waves of clean, earthy, roasted malt. Little espresso, little dark chocolate, little dark fruit, little sour mash, and just a touch of licorice. Nothing really stands out past the malted barley, but it all subtly blends together well. Taste follows suit with multiple notes (all of the above) but nothing dominating besides the big and broad malt bill. If I didn't know there was no lactose in the beer, I'd think there was sweet cream in play. But the sweetness is more than balanced out by both roasty and hoppy bitterness. Very well balanced and very easy drinking. Aftertaste is bitter and cold pressed coffee is the primary flavor that lingers on. Feel is medium bodied and very smooth, but not thick or chewy. Great stout for being outdoors on a cool night when you're in the mood for multiple.

L: Dark brown black color with a medium creamy tan head that dissipates quickly and several fingers of lacing on the glass.

S: Chocolate and Roasted malt, not very much char. Some notes of marshmallow and a little fruit. Very little noticeable hop.

S: Chocolate and Roasted malt, with a strong mineral note.

F: Super creamy and smooth, very easy drinking.

O: One of the smoothest easiest drinking stouts, I've had in a while.

Dark brown color and opaque with one finger's worth of tan head. Deep malt aroma filled with chocolate and roasted malt. Chocolate dominates the flavor but there is the slightest touch of fruit sweetness to it on the back end. Wonderful creamy, full bodied texture that finishes incredibly smooth. An excellent stout that packs a lot of flavor without ever feeling too heavy.

Great look with a healthy head. Nose has some hop characters, floral notes, with solid dark chocolate undertones. Taste is solid cocoa (not sweet at all), vanilla and rustic wood notes. Some oatmeal. Roasted not burnt. Overall pleasant. Nose is not for me when it comes to stouts, but flavor and mouthfeel are great.

Black body, dark tan creamy head that leaves blankets of lace. Nose has milk chocolate and a generous amount of whipped cream and buttermilk cream, faint espresso. Quite luxurious. The body also has chocolate and cream, firmly sweet, but with baker's chocolate, coffee flavor and acidity, and char on the finish, giving it a wholly separate bitterness. Feel is silky smooth, medium weight, fluffy, with mild carbonation.
A unique beer. Creamy is a great way to describe this- reminds me of when I made chocolate milk with half an half as a kid, with more bitterness (and alcohol). This is a no-shortcuts nitro milk stout. Glad to have had it.

Bell's Special Double Cream Stout has a thick, beige head, a dark, red-brown appearance, and almost no lacing left behind. The aroma is of sweet, brown bread, a touch of coffee and chocolate, and a shade of cream. Taste is of those elements, with noticeable, but low-level, bitterness, really, some acrid notes, and char. Mouthfeel is low medium, and Bell's Special Double Cream Stout finishes on the slightly dry side.

A - Dark body, opaque, with a thin tan head, very short, wispy, and offering a little lacing.

S - Surprisingly boozy. Malt is present, and offers caramel, chocolate and cocoa powder, and a hint of coffee.

T - The nose without the booze, with sweet malty caramel and chocolate. Coffee is hinted at in the close, but it is a quiet note and there's no acidity and only minor bitterness.

M - Silky, moderate body. A bit lighter than I'd like, but still very pleasant.

O - Hits many of the notes I love in stouts. Lots of chocolate and a bit of coffee from the malts. Very tasty, drinkable stuff.

Comes out black/dark brown, tan head 3/5". Aroma had faint cocoa notes, not as much roast was noticeable.

Taste allowed it to be rich, yet easy drinking. Kept roast and dark malt notes subdued. Chewy, chalky chocolate vibe. A bit of bitterness, from the coffee/espresso malt notes. Nothing really cream about this. I mean, its easy to drink I guess.

I enjoyed it, would try again.

Very solid, easy-drinking stout. Body is just dense enough to give it a slightly creamy feel. The balance of lightly roasted dark malts, semisweet chocolate and faint black coffee make it a smooth, satisfying stout with just enough depth to keep it interesting.

APPEARANCE: Poured into a Nonic pint glass. Very dark brown. Lots of small bubbles rising when held up to the light and more brown than ruby. One finger of tan head that lasts a while and leaves a nice thick layer on top. Nice bit of lacing down the glass.
AROMA: A little floral, coffee, chocolate, Dark roasted quality but not burnt.
TASTE: Sweet and malt up front, turns into a roasted coffee-chocolate bitterness. Very balanced between sweet and bitter.
FEEL: Medium thin body, like a porter. A little sticky and then finishes dry. Mild carbonation. Not especially creamy on the feel.
OVERALL: Very tasty. In between Bell's porter and Kalamazoo stout. Nice flavors, a little thin maybe. Roasty, nice coffe and chocolate. Would buy again.

L: Black. Finger width beige head, recedes very slowly. Small amount of lacing. Sick bottle cap IMO.

S: Coffee, chocolate, cinnamon.

T: Very complex. Coffee, chocolate, molasses, wood. Hints of dried fruit, roasted grains.

F: Very smooth and creamy, yet crisp. Full body here.

O: A good beer from Bell's to add to their resume however it isn't the best Sweet Stout that I have had.

OVERALL: Very nice. A nice amount of sweetness that is more palatable than a milk stout, not too bitter.

LOOK: Pitch black, barely some dark brown noticeable at the edge. Pours thick, dense head.
SMELL: sweet, espresso and darkness, hint of vanilla.
TASTE: sweet espresso and chocolate, very roasty, slightly burnt, hint of iron, wood ash and musty finish. not very bitter.
FEEL: Crazy creamy mouthfeel.

12oz bottle, dated 11/18/15. Pours hazy brownish-red with a below average sized khaki head. Smells of complex roasted malt, medium roast coffee, and some cocoa; below average intensity. The taste follows closely with lots of flavorful malt with some coffee, cocoa, earthy hops, and cream. Some mild bitterness in the finish. Below average carbonation and thinner body. Overall, it has a pretty complex taste, but in needs a better mouthfeel.
