Style: American Stout

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.10%

Availability: Winter

Notes / Commercial Description:
Double Cream Stout derives its name from its smooth, creamy texture, not the ingredients. Completely dairy-free, this stout blends ten different specialty malts to yield a remarkable depth of flavor. With only a touch of burnt notes, Double Cream Stout focuses on the softer, cocoa & espresso-like aspects of roasted malt.

Very dark beer with no light passing through. Dark caramel head on top. Smells very sugary sweet. Can taste the dark roasted malts with cream mixed in.

With a near black ruby color, this beer brings flavors of slightly bitter and mild coffee, but a mild sweet cream aftertaste and a slightly roasty coffee aroma, with a dark milk chocolate aftertaste. The mouthfeel is nice and thick, combined with a low-profile, but high carbonation bite. While nicely malt forward, it’s very mild and one-dimensional with an oddly balanced character. I’m probably not too familiar with the cream stouts, but I do recommend the Cream Stout from S. Peter’s Brewery in the UK.

Looks thick but drinks easy. Flavors are somewhat muted. Poured from a 12 oz bottle with the new label.
