Style: American Stout

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.10%

Availability: Winter

Notes / Commercial Description:
Double Cream Stout derives its name from its smooth, creamy texture, not the ingredients. Completely dairy-free, this stout blends ten different specialty malts to yield a remarkable depth of flavor. With only a touch of burnt notes, Double Cream Stout focuses on the softer, cocoa & espresso-like aspects of roasted malt.

Pours a black color with a small amount of light brown head that fades into a little lacing. Smell is roasted malts, dark chocolate, cocoa, and coffee. Taste is bitter chocolate, black licorice, vanilla, hint of brown sugar. Creamy, smooth, full body. Great beer, good flavors, easy drinker. Would happily buy this again.

L: Black with just a tiny bit of ruby red at the bottom of the glass. The head is small, tan, with moderate retention, and splotchy lacing.
S: Milk chocolate, malted milk balls, cocoa powder, roasted grains, toasted brown bread, almond milk.
T: Milk chocolate, caramel, malted milk balls and cocoa powder upfront, with some black licorice and raisin. On the mid-palate, a toasted brown bread malt backbone with lots of roasted grain. The finishes dries out with some dark roast coffee, and toffee, a bittersweet chocolate taste lingering coating the mouth and lingering.
F: Medium, smooth, slightly creamy, well-rounded with a moderate carbonation.
O: A really great, sessionable stout with a greater, sweeter-ish flavors. Like a really great oatmeal stout.

Pours a deep brown/black with a solid off white head, slow to break and minimal lacing. Smell is roasts with some chocolate and perhaps some vanilla. The flavor is much like the nose. Roasts are mellow, some espresso and a light cocoa is there too. Feel is smooth and creamy.

A good beer. I'd have it again.

Lots of roasted dark malt, cocoa, coffee & cream. Solid aroma & flavor. Robust yet, sessionable. True to style and delicious.

Modest head production and retention. Dark black body.

Lovely and understated stout aroma. Roasty and creamy, with notes of chocolate, coffee, and a touch of brown sugar.

Less sweet than I expected. Bitter cocoa, astringent up front. Sweet grape notes and just a touch of brown sugar, particularly on the finish.

Smooth creamy body.

Packaging date of 08/14/2017.
This was poured into an English pint glass.
The appearance was a dark brown close to black color but the pour definitely leaned into the dark side of the brown with a two finger off white to tan foamy head that slid off at a moderate pace. Lace ran with the sips of the beer but honestly, there wasn't much there.
The aroma had a wonderful blend of roasted espresso beans with a robust dark chocolate bean balance with a touch of vanilla bean and a slight little bit of chocolate cake at the end.
The flavor was moderately sweet pulling the roast in gentle with the coffee portions and the chocolate portions coming together very nicely. Aftertaste was semi-roasty with an ample sweetness of the chocolate and espresso.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied leaning towards an in between sessionable to sipping quality - I wanna gulp this, but I don't. It's actually quite smooth running along my tongue but also in it's favor is that the roastiness of the bean helps to provide just enough grip to keep it from getting cloying or any kind of stickiness.
Overall, an absolutely wonderful American stout leaning towards a dessert beer but not being a milk/sweet stout. I would love to have again.

Pours dark black with rich tan head and sticky lacing. Very light nose, some malt, coffee, oat, and smoke. The flavor is rich but light, smooth silky malt with coffee, chocolate, char, tasted oat and maybe a little vanilla. This is a very smooth and lighter stout but not light on flavor, I enjoyed more at room temp. Very good beer.
