12oz bottle 5 months from bottling date.

Look (color-wise) is spot-on for a darker doppelbock, dark brown with a beautiful ruby sheen when held up to light. The head is glaringly weak for the style, quickly subsiding in mere seconds.

Aroma is pure malt and representative of a dark doppelbock. Some slightly caramel notes are present and enjoyable.

Flavor features malt, darker and very rich. Toasty notes and some yeast on the aftertaste. Alcohol is appropriately disguised but not missing. Lingering flavor makes this a very nice sipping beer. Mouthfeel is good medium-heavy, but something seems off about it. Like it's a little too flat.

A very good beer that is representative and true to the style. One of my top doppelbocks now, and I am appalled at the low average score by fellow BAs. I think I'll keep a couple of these on hand for when I'm having a sweet tooth. :)

Clear dark ruby-amber pour with a very thin beige head. Very sweet, with notes of prunes, raisins, caramel. Lacks bitterness, carbonation and the mouthfeel isn’t that great, either. The alcohol is a bit too present in the aftertaste. Overall, not a good beer.

Picked up a single from TW Arrowhead in late February for $2.99 and maintained in my beer fridge since then. Bottled on 1-19-16.

Beer poured burgundy-brown with a nice off white head that dissipated pretty quickly.

Nose is bready and a touch fruity.

Taste is bready, nutty, dark fruits, with a wine like finish.

Feel is medium bodied and pretty smooth.

Overall i think Bell's leveraged the yeast strain very nicely and have brewed true to the style. Doppelbock's are definitely underrated in this day and age with imperial IPA's and stouts getting top billing. Glad i was able to try!

Pours a clear garnet Amber with good carbonation with head that fades somewhat quick. Smells of chewy toasty caramel raisin bread - really nice....everything I want in a doppelbock. Tastes similar with some noticeable chocolate melt flavor. Mostly malty sweet with ample bitterness to even things out. Alcohol in check. Great version of a doppelbock overall.

Beautifully clear brownish red with a thinner than standard off white head. Smells of bready sweet goodness. Tastes like caramel drizzled biscuits, along with a slightly higher bitterness and alcohol warmth than expected. Overall a very good Doppelbock, and a much better take towards true to the style than most US craft breweries. Prost!

Deep amber. Sweet caramel nose with fruit notes that enter as beer warms. Caramel flavor with robust malt backbone. Tangy. A very sweet beer. An excellent doppelbock.

Not sure how this one has only earned a rating of "very good", it's a fantastic doppelbock.

Nice dark amber pour, nose has a lot of raisin, port wine, a hint of fresh bread. Flavor follows, but with molasses and a hint of coffee.

Medium bodied, plenty of bubbles, very refreshing.
