Side by side with regular and the whiskey barrel aged. Pouring from a 12 oz. bottle into a tasting glass. This beer pours pitch black and forms a thin tan crown. The smell on this one rather muted and hardly detect anything at all. The taste is less of tart cherries and more of a rather smooth and balanced cherry juice. It's almost like a cherry ice cream. Like if they made cherry sundaes. Glad it wasn't like the nose and didn't bring hardly anything at all, but it still doesn't bring too much on flavor. Just a nice balance and an easy drinking beer. Overall, I did want more from this and I didn't even like it as much as the original, but it was definitely above the whiskey barrel aged to me.

12oz bottle dated 05/10/2018 poured into a pint glass like a 30 weight oil. Thick and creamy looking dark walnut brown body upon which a whispy thin cap of cocoa powder colored bubbles floats before disappating to an edge-hugging ring. Erratic lacing that mostly runs back to the body.

Aroma is just sweet cherry and cocoa.

Flavors include both sweet and tart cherry mixed with cherry skin tannin and a coating of fine cocoa powder.

Mouthfeel is full and leans thicker in viscosity, dry with a slight cherry aftertaste.

Overall a well brewed stout with cherry.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a Dogfish head tulip

L: Nearly black pour with a finger of brown head. Falls fast with a surprisingly nice ring of lacing.

S: Sweet/tart cherries and roasted sugars. Cocoa and espresso.

T/F: Follows the nose. Sweet cherry up front followed by roast bitterness and baking cherry tartness. Dark chocolate, coffee, and burned malts. Sticky and thick on the tongue. The finish is sweet and tart with more cherry juice coming through. A little boozy.

O: A really nice cherry stout... loads of fruit gives the big sweet stout some nice tartness. A dessert sipper. Super drinkable for the ABV.

The beer pours a nice and chocolate brown foamy head that dissipates quickly. The beer itself is a delicious dark chocolate color that is opaque.

The smell and taste are both very good. Both of them has a good sweet milk chocolate note and nice tart cherry note that lingers in the smell and taste. The chocolate is a bit sweeter in the taste.

The feel is good. It has a medium body bordering on heavy but with a good carbonation to it that brings out the acidity a little.

Overall, it's good and definitely worth it. It's better than the original and really good one-off.

12oz bottle, PKG 05/10/18. Black body capped with a thin brown foam. Cherry and chocolate aroma with some roast and booze. Dark chocolate covered cherry flavors dominate the palate, quite sweet and quite boozy, mild roasted barley. Full body, lower carbonation, and the dark chocolate and cherry lingers on the sweet finish. Great idea for a one-off. Glad to try it.

12oz bottled 5-10-18, shelf life "Infinite"
1/4" tan head on top of a black stout. Head falls to a cap quickly.
Roasted malts, boozy, sweet cherries. Chocolate cake, bakers cocoa.
Big, sweet black cherry flavors and dark chocolate cake mix.
Smooth almost slick mouthfeel. Long sweet cherry finish.
I really, really like this, several notches above normal Bell's Cherry Stout.

Pours black with a finger of khaki foam that retains fairly well. Aroma is hearty, hitting notes of roasted and toasted malts with hearty bourbon, char, and cherry behind. The cherry is tart, which twists in well with the dark malts. Flavor profile is tart cherry mashed between hearty roasted and toasted malts. The bourbon and char is a little more mellow in the flavor profile than the aroma, but it still present. Cherry is tart and reaching sour. Mouth feel is medium-thick with a hearty, velvety texture. Overall, lots of traditional stout goodness here with a new age twist of cherry in the mix.

Served in a 12oz snifter from a 12oz bottle.
