Appearance: Pours pitch black with a thick tan head; nice retention and plenty of dots and a few strands in the leggy pattern

Smell: Roast, chocolate and cherry, with a jammy character

Taste: Cherry jam forward, with chocolate and a hint of smoke building; nicely balanced, through the finish

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with moderate carbonation

Overall: Having hated both barrel-aged versions of the Cherry Stout, I approached this with some trepidation but IMO Bell's has nailed it with this one; not my favorite style but they got the right balance of chocolate and cherry; I have one extra bottle to age and I look forward to seeing how it develops

Pour: Poured into a tulip glass. Jet black with no head, thin ring, very slight lacing.

Nose: lots of oak with slight cherry sweetness.

Taste: oak, then some tart cherry, chocolate, slight bitterness on the finish that lingers.

Mouthfeel: fairly high carbonation, medium viscosity. More thin than thick but enjoyable to drink.

Overall: good but not great and won’t buy again. It’s better than the regular cherry stout but the oak tastes overpower the stout. The cherry is about right but, as much as I want to like cherry beers, they never seems to work just right. This is another such case, albeit a decent one.

Pitch black in color with a fingernail of brown around the rim. I'm not getting much aroma, but there's cherries and a vast quantity of dark roasted barley. I'm tasting plenty of dark roasted barley and then there's sweet cherries in the finish. The mouth is thick, chewy, and overall like motor oil.

12 oz bottle with a 11 May 2018 bottling date stamped on the label.
Pours essentially black with a short, weak tan head. Some ruby-brown shows at the edges. Minimal lacing.
Mild and appealing aroma with notes of dried cherries. some alcohol, and dark roasted grains.
Flavor: the cherries feature less prominently here than in the aroma until some warming occurs. Some chocolate note are added.
Medium-full body with low carbonation.

Nice dark black color, some tan head with a little lingering lacing. Smells of dark cherries and a little coffee. Tastes of dark cherries, dark chocolate, malt and a little roast coffee. Not quite enough bitterness or tartness, and too much sweetness - slightly cloying. Smooth mild mouthfeel and good amount of carbonation. Just too sweet for me and not enough complexity.

Inviting black brew. Decent head production, and excellent retention, with a dark tan head that retains 1/8" for quite some time.

Initial whiff is quite roasty, but upon a deeper inhalation strong cherry tones are revealed. That's actually about it; two note, but pleasant.

Flavor matches the nose impeccably, with roasty tones up front, and cherry taking over around the middle of the first third. Cherry flavor continues to build, lasting throughout the finish, while roasted barley - translated primarily as burnt coffee, molasses, caramel, and touches of licorice and bitter chocolate - fight for occasional emergence.

Very smooth on the palate. The amount of cherries give it a mild puckering effect, but it's mostly medium-full bodied and sticky.

12oz bottle dated 05/10/2018 poured into a pint glass like a 30 weight oil. Thick and creamy looking dark walnut brown body upon which a whispy thin cap of cocoa powder colored bubbles floats before disappating to an edge-hugging ring. Erratic lacing that mostly runs back to the body.

Aroma is just sweet cherry and cocoa.

Flavors include both sweet and tart cherry mixed with cherry skin tannin and a coating of fine cocoa powder.

Mouthfeel is full and leans thicker in viscosity, dry with a slight cherry aftertaste.

Overall a well brewed stout with cherry.

On tap at Das Biergarten. Black body. Smells of strong roasted malt, cherry, some chocolate. Tastes of tart cherry up front, especially as it warms, roasted malt, some fudge and alcohol in the back end. Medium heavy. A little slow to drink, but good.

Pours ebony with a sliver of mocha colored head. Viscious, some lacing & head retention

S: Dark fruit; figs & cherry, kinfd of restrained

T: Slightly sour cherry, a touch of tobacco, a little Dark Chocolate up front Cherry turns tarter once warm, a touch of figgyness as well, some smokeyness as well. Finishes with a little sweet/tart cherry, some fig & just a little leather dryness

MF: Medium body, firm carbonation. Carbonation calms a little once to room temperature

Interesting beer, ABV is well hidden, was hoping for a little more body & Stout to mingle with the cherry
