12oz bottled 8/11/17 poured into a .5L krug at fridge temp 5.5% ABV. The beer pours bright honey amber color with khaki head. The head recedes to a ring eventually with a few spots of sporadic lacing. Aroma is faint but mostly crackery malt. Taste is semisweet malt with cracker and nutty elements transitioning to dry slightly nutty finish. Mouthfeel is thinner bodied, well carbonated and mostly dry. No off flavors or defects even though its only been in the bottle for a week. Overall, good. Perhaps a classic American version with just enough imported malt to keep it from being overly sweet. Very easy drinker and quite enjoyable, unless you're looking for a traditional Munich Marzen.

Bell's Octoberfest, 5.5% ABV. Pours thin and golden, with less than a finger of white foamy head. Nose is a slight hoppiness, taste is pretty smooth malt balancing hops, with a slight bitter close. Mouthfeel is OKish, given that it is thin and over-carbonated. Overall just OK, but to be fair, I am drinking this three months past the three month drink-by date. Could be better fresh - I forgot I had it.

Clear, copper-colored body; very thin, soapy head. Nice aroma of old, ripe fruit; apple cider. A rather nondescript flavor; some toasted grain flavor; vague hop bitterness. Warm yet flat mouthfeel.

It seems like previous bottles from the same six pack packed more flavor and visual appeal, but today's sample came across as bland and boring across the board. There was no real, lasting head as such and the smell and taste were muted. I'll definitely re-review this one on down the road as this doesn't seem to live up to Bell's general quality.

DATE: Wednesday, November 9, 2016... OCCASION: Back in Bloom at Filet 18 to celebrate our fifteenth anniversary... a herd of bubbles moves steadily upwards... off-white head, swampy and effervescent... a somewhat hazy, light amber body... first scents offer a metallic ping--bready and pretzel-like... big, medium-bodied with caramel and sweet malts.... not much of the signature Two Hearted hops to speak of... some activity on the teeth, nicely nuanced for a fest... overall, a nicely malted, fresh experience, full, sweet and complete as another fine Bell's offering...at 22 ounces and $5, quite a deal....
