look: 3.75 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4

12 oz. bottle poured into tall mug
(2/6/2017 born-on date)

L: cloudy yellow-gold, consistent mistiness, about 70-85% clear; pushes up almost an inch of white foam, no stick or lace, keeps a thick collar and most of skin of foam

S: faint lemon peel, earthy dirt, very sweet light malt ... cracker malt with a pinch of honey, almost to the sweet bread malt level

T: grain, light lemon tartness, cracker malt ... lightly sweet cracker malt, dirt/black pepper hop bite, pinch of grass; earthy dirt-hop aftertaste begins taking over with a bit of bread dough (not sweet) filling out the flavor; as it warms, the light malt sweetness begins to pop; a big swallow can get a bit medicinal

F: lightweight, filled out well with carbonation, giving it a good midweight heft, almost ale slick

O: great beer, simple but full of both hop and malt flavor

Light gold, slight haze. Moderate-high carbonation. Thick head.

Light, clean, slight earthy, bready, floral hops.

Clean malts, grassy, semi-toasted. Hop bitterness is light-medium, mostly floral. Finish is dry-clean. Light-medium bodied, crisp, clean, dry, highly drinkable.

It's a very good Czech Pilsner.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass at Taco Mac in Atlanta. The appearance is a clear, light straw color with a small white head. The aroma is grass, yeast and some grains. The taste is a slight yeasty bread flavor with some grass tossed in.

Poured into tulip from growler, minimal head, so so lacing. Bright hazy yellow in the glass. Biscuit and grassy/floral hops on the nose. Mild bitterness on the front, some malt sweetness in the middle with some grassy hops, a mild spicy semi dry finish. Nice beer to pair food with, clean taste, not to abrasive on the palate.

Pours a mostly clear yellow golden color with white colored head. Cereal grains, crisp and clean on the aroma, almost a typical lager yeast note too on the nose; follows onto the palate. Light bodied. Finishes very crisp and clean.

12 oz bottled 2/6/17 poured into a perfect pint at fridge temp. Straw color of yellow with short lived white head. Settles into a light cap with good lacing. Smell is earthy & flowery. Taste is mild bitterness first moving into the light malt, earth & flower tastes at the finish. Mouthfeel is good with a dry finish. Overall, good and easy drinking. It seems as though Bell's did a good job making this one to style.

Clean and crisp lager with a nice sweet Brady smell. Grassy taste. Poured a clear yellow with a thin white head and good lacing. Excellent with peanuts and hockey.

Pours a light straw color with a nice head that left a very nice lacing pattern behind. The nose is fairly malty and grassy. The taste is crisp and malty but finishes with an intense bitterness. Fairly light body. A very nice lager that is a perfect accompaniment to some spicy food.

Very dry and crackery, with a chalky mouthfeel. Moderately stiff noble hops are a little grassy and peppery, but otherwise not a lot of hop character. Malt profile could be more distinctive, but this is still a crisp, well built pils.

A: Pale yellow in color with a white head.

S: Light grain, and a light grape aroma.. almost like a champagne character. Light floral hop character.

T: Nice grain character, with a touch of earthy hops, and a hint of a crisp tartness. Nice.

M: Medium light, although the carbonation feels a touch low for me.

O: Overall... tasty.

Really nice true to style lager. Crisp and clean, but a nice touch of herbal and grassy European hops in the finish. Czech style pilsners aren't really my thing necessarily, but this is definitely a well made lager, and didn't mind drinking this one at all.

12 oz pour into a shaker pint on tap.

A: Light pale gold body with a creamy hite head.

S: Lots of grainy malts, bready, and a slight floral hoppiness.

T: Grainy, corn, light doughy bread, and a little bit of perfumey hops finishes slightly malty.

M: Medium bodied good carbonation.

O: This is a solid lager. Are you going to be blown away by it? No, but you will enjoy it and its nice to give your taste buds a rest.

Slightly hazy golden color with white head. Aroma is mostly malty, grainy, clean. Taste follows with the clean, grainy malt profile but there is also a medium earthy hop bitterness. It doesn't linger to long though. Light to medium bodied with crisp carbonation. Overall it's an easy drinking clean lager but I think it's a bit too harsh with its earthy bitterness.

This beer is misunderstood. Look, don't rate this against Bell's other tremendous offerings like Two Hearted or Expedition. This probably shouldn't even get rated against other craft lagers.

But if you put it up against macro-lager swill, it is boss! This beer belongs in the family with Bud, Miller, Coors, etc. And when compared to those posers, it shines. A flavorful, refreshing lager that holds up well with a plate of hot wings or nachos. If you were thinking about a Corona or PBR with that spicy food, skip those and get this. Like everything else from Bells, you won't be disappointed.

12 oz bottled 9/13/16 poured into a pint glass. Pours a touch cloudy, but mostly clear gold, with a one finger fluffy white head that retains well throughout the glass. The aroma is of mild toasted grains. The taste follows suit, with hints of cracker and pine. The mouthfeel is crisp, but smooth, with a medium low level of carbonation. A Pilsner worth giving a go.

lemony - cloudy - grassy - perfectly & decent white head - clean taste - great nose but taste totally differs from it - I would say it is a GREAT PILSNER - I could drink it for days... Good job Bell's!

Pours a straw yellow with a large white head. There is a lot of carbonation with this one.

Smell is mainly bready malt with a hint of yeast.

Sweet malt and bread up front. There is hop bitterness on the back end, leaving a bitter aftertaste. There is an earthy, grassy component to it.

Smooth feel to it, with a bit of tingling from the carbonation.

A decent beer, one I think would be best on a hot day. Easy to drink and a decent flavor, a good choice for a summer beer.

Pours a slightly cloudy straw color with an uneven, pockmarked head. Fine, if flawed.

Aroma is of the brewery floor; yeasty and damp. A flush of crisp oyster crackers floats by, with notes of parsley and lemon pith. Young and and enticing. Calls out for briny shellfish.

Taste is subdued and far less pungent than the nose. A bit watery, with hints of cut grass, allspice, and butter. Sweeter than anticipated on the palate, but finishes dry. Would be killer with a lobster roll (Connecticut-style), but would falter in the face of raw oysters.

Mouthfeel is mellow and rounded, with foamy, friendly carbonation. Maybe ever so slightly under-carbonated for the style, but still very nice.

Overall, not too shabby. Wouldn't go out of my way for it, but, appropriately enough, would be just about perfect for a day out by the lake.

Appearance is light yellow with white cap and good lacing.

Aroma is a little more substantial than the appearance implies. I get clean maltiness, not too strong, with a hop presence that is more herbal than spicy. Also a distinct hint of yeast bread.

Taste is very pleasant. malt forward with hops in the background. Hops emerge more prominently mid palate and last through the finish. Hop herbalness is more present in the aftertaste which leans more toward the herbal than spicy.

Texture is medium with a pleasant creaminess.

Overall this is a worthwhile effort. This label doesn't mention the words Bohemian or Czech style (I believe earlier labels did) but for me it falls into that general category. This is a pleasant, low key lager that should appeal to beer drinkers generally and has enough extra in the body and hop finish to be interesting to beer aficionados.

Poured into a shaker pint glass.

Look: Clear golden body with slowly rising bubbles. A white soapy head remains in tact for some time leaving large swaths of lacing.

Aroma: Spicy and grassy with sourness on the back side.

Taste: Soft malts up front coveted in spicy hops, some lemongrass and even subtle bitter grapefruit in the finish.

Mouthfeel: Mefium bodied, dry.

Overall: Nice pils, good grassiness, a little too tangy or sour to be refreshing.

Fresh pour at world of beers. Strictly rating on style, Almost clear gold color. Minimal white head. Skunky/metalic scent. Bitter, but a large amount of skunky/metalic aftertaste. True to style, but I would prefer it to have more crispness to mellow out the metalic taste.

Bell's Lager has a thick, white head, a hazy, straw appearance, some lazy bubble streams, and splotches of lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of subdued sweet & light malt, and the flavor is of sweet, white bread, pale malts, and low-to-moderate, somewhat grassy hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Bell's Lager finishes crisp and easy drinking.

Light, straw colored body; decent carbonation; white, frothy head. Fresh grass with light cereal grain make up the aroma. Gentle malt sweetness with a light cracker flavor; bold hop bitterness developing midway and lingering through the finish. Crisp mouthfeel.

A good pilsner overall. It delivers solid if unremarkable flavors and mouthfeel.

Bell's Lager Of The Lakes pours a pale SRM-1 color with a tall, foamy head.

Aromas of Saaz, Mosaic, and other noble hop varieties, along with some pale malts and light herbal grassiness.

Very sharp flavors waxing strongly metallic; quite a bit of herbal and pilsner qualities, but the explosion of trash can metal just sort of ruins the experience.

Heavily carbonated, slightly creamy, and a dry finish.

A boat lager this is not. Nor is it in any way enjoyable. I'm gonna give the rest to someone else. Easily wins the award for Bell's worst beer.
