Notes: Substantial amounts of late-kettle hop additions and dry-hopping yields a heady blend of fruity aromas of pineapple, peach and citrus. Those aromas continue into a crisply bitter hop presence across the tongue, but the judicious use of toasted and caramel specialty malts prevents the hop intensity from overwhelming the palate.

Locally sourced Michigan honey creates a smooth, dry finish that pulls everything together.

The India Red Ale style is a variation on the IPA, but with more caramel and toasted malt character and a reddish hue.

Roundhouse was first brewed at our original brewery in downtown Kalamazoo in 2009.

A lot of caramel and toasted malt. Not real hoppy or bitter. Some zesty, citrusy fruit and honey. Has a real candied flavor. Body is a bit syrupy. This strikes me as what a combination of Hopslam and Nugget Nectar might taste like. Decent beer.

Reddish copper hued body; dense, creamy head. Malty, spicy hop aroma. Rye-like flavor; bread crust; dull honey sweetness; rather intense hop bitterness; some booziness. Heavy body; smooth at first yet develops a nice prickly feel on the palate at the finish; alcohol warmth with a touch of dryness.

By and large a spiffy beer that brings on some nice warm and toasty malt flavors with a spicy and hoppy character counterbalancing a heavy yet proper sweetness. A nice melding of an imperial red ale with a West Coast styled IPA.

A Growler picked up in Atlanta June, 2014

A - Deep amber, with a 1 finger of tan head, and tons of lacing left on the glass. Slight clarity.

S - Huge citrusy hop aroma, slightly sweet malting. Brown sugar. Smells awesome

T - A hoppy red IPA just like the smell suggests. Well balanced, all around goodness. Sweet finish and lots of citrus and grapefruit hops.

M - Medium carbonation and oily slick taste

O - An awesome Red IPA. Bell's nails it. Again. Try this if you can find it! I don't think they bottled it so draft only.

Poured from a can into a shaker pint, the beer is a vibrant, amber-copper coloring with a foamy, clingy, off-white head. Aromas of resinous hops bitterness, rich caramel sweetness, and subtle citrus highlights. Flavors are bitter pine pitch and tropical fruit sweet forward. Solid caramel backbone, roasted and sweet. Well balanced, with a resinous, piney hops and rich caramel aftertaste. The finish is slick and crisp, with a lingering bitterness and citrus blend. Tasty beer.

Red Tail Ale was my favorite first craft. This one surpasses that memory.
A: Pours a "red-pale", slightly hazed beautiful amber, without must lasting head or lace.
S: Combines toast, sweetness of Irish red ale balanced with hoppy bite, sun-baked grass, and herbs.
T: Follows the smell and adds more toffee, bread crust and honey. Really fine red ale flavor.
F: And creamy, chewy mouthfeel. Medium body finishes malty-dry and clean and bitter. Nice final twist of the dive.
O: one of America's finest red ales.
