Brewed by:
Bell's Brewery - Eccentric Café & General Store
Michigan, United States

Style: American Amber / Red Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.50%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
Substantial amounts of late-kettle hop additions and dry-hopping yields a heady blend of fruity aromas of pineapple, peach and citrus. Those aromas continue into a crisply bitter hop presence across the tongue, but the judicious use of toasted and caramel specialty malts prevents the hop intensity from overwhelming the palate.

Locally sourced Michigan honey creates a smooth, dry finish that pulls everything together.

The India Red Ale style is a variation on the IPA, but with more caramel and toasted malt character and a reddish hue.

Roundhouse was first brewed at our original brewery in downtown Kalamazoo in 2009.

Served in a tasting glass the Firestone Walker Beer Fest. From notes. Reviewed 1 June 2013.
A hazy auburn color. The smell is slightly hoppy with fruity-sweet tropical notes. The taste was WAY more bitter than anticipated. Loaded with hops. But the malt balance helps a lot, with a sweetish-dry finish.

EDIT 3/12/16:
A gorgeous, clear red with short-lived head.
Smells malty and fruity and sweet.
Tastes malty and fruity and sweet, but with a long, hoppy finish.
Robust and full-bodied.
A fun, satisfying beer.

On tap at the 2013 Firestone Walker Invitational held at the Paso Robles Event Center in Paso Robles, CA.

Billed as Roundhouse IRA (Indian Red Ale).

Pours a clear reddish-brown with a foamy bone head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. Foamy rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, caramel, and citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with caramel flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that smells slightly better than it tastes in my opinion.

On-tap at Thirsty Monk, Asheville, NC

A: The beer is slightly hazy amber in color. It poured with a quarter finger high beige head that has good retention properties and hardly died down.
S: Moderate aromas of citrusy hops are present in the nose along with hints of caramel malts.
T: The taste is very similar to the smell and has hints of malty sweetness along with a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and slightly smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is really easy to drink and has an interesting combination of citrusy hops in an amber ale.
