Roundhouse IRARoundhouse IRA

Brewed by:
Bell's Brewery, Inc.
Michigan, United States

Style: American Amber / Red Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.50%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
Substantial amounts of late-kettle hop additions and dry-hopping yields a heady blend of fruity aromas of pineapple, peach and citrus. Those aromas continue into a crisply bitter hop presence across the tongue, but the judicious use of toasted and caramel specialty malts prevents the hop intensity from overwhelming the palate.

Locally sourced Michigan honey creates a smooth, dry finish that pulls everything together.

The India Red Ale style is a variation on the IPA, but with more caramel and toasted malt character and a reddish hue.

Roundhouse was first brewed at our original brewery in downtown Kalamazoo in 2009.

On-tap at Thirsty Monk, Asheville, NC

A: The beer is slightly hazy amber in color. It poured with a quarter finger high beige head that has good retention properties and hardly died down.
S: Moderate aromas of citrusy hops are present in the nose along with hints of caramel malts.
T: The taste is very similar to the smell and has hints of malty sweetness along with a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and slightly smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is really easy to drink and has an interesting combination of citrusy hops in an amber ale.

Appearance: a deep reddish orange. a touch hazy but mostly clear. a foamy off white head that hung around for a long time.

Smell: citrus hops, toffee, caramel malts. the sweet and bitter are both strong

Taste: again its a battle between big bitter hops and strong sweet malts. citrus hops, toffee and caramel, a nice little touch of alcohol. Nicely balanced and definitely delicious

Mouthfeel: starts of with a slight bitterness but quickly gives way to an extremely nice sweet and creamy feel. not overly hot or heavy.

Overall: Bell's should release their imperial red ales more often and in bottles. This beer is amazing and so is this one goes to eleven. a beer similar to these as a seasonal release would be killer
