12oz bottled 07/02/2020 (15 days ago) poured into small becher glass at fridge temp 5.8% ABV. The beer pours hazy apricot in color with a few floaties and off white head. The head recedes to a thin ring and leaves no lacing. The aroma is strong mango and lesser wheat. The taste is semisweet wheat with the tart mango showing up later. Minimal bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, good.

Appearance: Pours a completely hazy (~>95% opacity), medium, but bright orange color with a strong white head that lingers. A lot of sediment in the glass. SRM of 9. (4.25)
Aroma: Moderate to strong aromas of floral fruit upfront including orange, orange juice, mango, pineapple. It has a distinct fruit aromas that I can't put a name on it. It's some type of orange citrus.
Flavor: Strong flavors upfront of flowery fruit including orange, orange juice, mango, mango juice, and possibly some pienapple juice. Then it it has a somewhat tart note. It finishes juicy and somewhat tart on the finish. It has a definite overripe fruit component to it.
Feel: Medium-bodied. Moderate carbonation. A tartness that lingers, and a juicy sweetness on the finish. Medium-bodied.
Compared to Oberon 8/15/21: Pours much hazier. Far more aromatic. Juicier, fruitier, more tart. Simialr body and sweetness though.
Overall: This was a haze bomb. Tons of juicy and fruit upfront with a floral note. It's almost like an overripe orange or mango with a tart floral twist. Definite tartness which I didn't expect. A little bit of plastic balloon flavor too which is disturbing. Then the tartness lingers and it actually finishes dryer than I expected. A bold beer, but not an Oberon. (Final Rating: 3.71)

A: A bright orange soda like appearance and coloring has macro-bubbly content within, while clinging to the glass walls. The head is off tan, bready textured, and slight in statue, about one inch, quick to collapse under its own weakness.
S: Creamy sour oranges and wheat open the nose. Mangoes are soft, slight sour and fruity, with some peachy-tangerine back notes. The strength is rather reserved, a creamy soft blend, with some sour cherries as well.
T: Sour oranges and mangoes compose the flavor with a strong wheat backing, creamy soft. Some sour fruitiness of cherries and soft citrus makes for a smooth and mellow hopping.
M: Spritzy and lively carbonation factor, the creamy wheat base and sour twang of tangerines makes its presence known on the hold and tongue. Fluffy wheat bread fullness.
O: Overall love Bell's Oberon, this is a softer, more rounder summer wheat beer interpretation I'm guessing. Sour mangoes and oranges for a relaxing outback by the pool type atmosphere. Smooth easy drinking hops for the summer heat that won't overwork your tongue or get you filled up, just like a good wheat beer should. Relaxing drinkability.

12 fl oz brown glass bottle with pry-off crown cap from a Total Wine & More in Colorado:
5.8% ABV. Packaged 07/06/2020. Shelf life - 6 Months. "American wheat ale brewed with mango."
Mango fruit puree is present but brings to much sweetness to an ale already rife with 2 row pale malt sweetness and honeyed wheat malt. Evokes more canned mango puree than actual fresh mango to its detriment. Fruity and floral hopwise but no specific varietals jump out nor are hops this beer's focus.
Less sweetness and more balance would help make this more enjoyable. I don't know that mango is particularly well suited to an American wheat ale and I do wonder if they couldn't up the percentage of wheat malt in the mash to better effect.
Certainly drinkable, but it's not a standout brew in Bell's' lineup.
C+ / ABOVE AVERAGE
***
12/16/20 bottle:
Has a sweet mango puree taste instead of a genuine mango fruit taste...like Bell's used canned puree/fruit extract instead of real fruit.
Lacks the fresh mango flavour this beer would need to really deliver on its premise. Does have a nice myrcene oil flavour alongside the mango.
A decent wheat ale but not one I'd buy again.

Gold in color with a heavy sedimentary haze. There’s a quarter inch of off white on top. The aroma is of mango and pale wheat. I’m tasting mango and pale wheat. The mouth is light, crisp, and refreshing.

12oz bottled 7-14-20, opened 10-7-20.
1/4" white head with a huge, loose bead...short retention, falls to a ring quickly.
Hazy, orange/gold. No lacing. Uninspiring "look".
Very floral and perfumed aroma with a definite mango lean. Wheat.
Simple, sweet-ish mango flavor.
Medium body, low-medium carbonation. Full mouthfeel. Quick, off dry finish.
I had high hopes for the 4pk but it didn't grow on me at all.
Okay.

LOOK - - - - 1 finger head - poor head retention - barely a foam ring around the outer edge - dark orange/deep tan - very cloudy
SMELL - - - - some nice mango notes - a lot of wheat - a lot of yeast (belgian-like) - some sweet caramel
TASTE - - - - a bit tart at first - some sweet mango and caramel rush in quickly though - loads of wheat flavor here - nice yeast/bread/biscuit as well - quite flavorful - some white grape hints pop in and out - trails off with some mango, orange, grapefruit notes and also some herbal notes with some hints of charred wood
FEEL - - - - medium body but quite flat about halfway through - not that interesting
OVERALL - - - - Oberon is a great beer and this is the first time I have tried an offshoot / blend of another flavor - I really like this one - it is very flavorful and fruity - very refreshing - I will keep an eye out for this one again in the future - great yeast and wheat flavor throughout - Bell's know what they are doing

oberon with just a hint of mango flavors. Not much mango flavor, but the base beer oberon flavors still come through. I like that because Oberon is such a great wheat beer and the addition of fruit doesn't over power every thing.

Poured from the bottle into a wheat ale glass.
Deep milkshake like orange and yellow, with a creamy sense and three finger tall off white bubbly head. Settles with minimal lacing on the opaque body.
Aroma is lots of classic chewy wheat senses. Dense. Heavy on thick raw bread dough, not so much on fruity character strangely. Nicely touched wheat ale, but not getting this mango addition yet, but still gives classic Oberon flavors. There might be a faint hint of touching diacetyl.
Palate makes a nice play. Slightly juiced fruit, and a real chewy classic mouthfeel. Deep sensing bread and light herbal hops that real give to a great sharp peppery bitterness on the swallow. Light touches of mango fruit, not very noticeable, but does give a bit of an accent and play mostly in the hop angle just a bit too.
Seems like the addition added more to color than anything, but this is still Oberon with a touch of twist.

Decent enough for a wheat ale, but not tasting much difference from regular Oberon. At $9.99 for a 4-pack, this is a pass for me.
