With the success of Bell's sour ale program, the natural procession is to borrow the world of raspberry from the Belgians and to push their famed sour beer into the world of framboise. In doing so, The Wild One joins the fruity fray.

Raspberry Wild One carries a deeply hazy mauve austere- glowing with reds, pinks and maroons, the beer is uniquely opaque. With a short-lived head falling in its wake, the tantalizing scent of tangy and succulent raspberry is densely packed with strong suggestions of wine, cider and cork-like must following closely behind. Tangy and sweet, the candied taste is strongly of raspberry with jolly rancher-type sugars laying a malty foundation.

The bulk of sweetness rapidly dissolves and the sour remnants of raspberry form a sour marriage with the beer's natural acidity and funk. Lemon, lime, crabapple and sour melon round out the raspberry as hints of vinous sourness and vinegar-like sharpness poke and prod at the tastebuds. Weathered oak and mild leather offer an earthy charm along with a peppery bite ensure a clean lactic finish.

Medium-light on the palate, the beer's residual fruit flavors offer a bit more heft than most sour ale. This added weight seems vanilla-like with hints of marzipan. Peppery and highly acidic, the enamel-stripping sourness erases the thirst from the palate with ease for a quick and refreshing finish.

Best AWA I've had. The raspberry flavor is so real and compliments the regular wild one perfectly.

pour is dark pink almost maroon with small amount of off white head. Nose is heavy raspberry purée, faint leathery brett, a touch of vanilla and lactose. Taste gets slightly acetic, very faint, lots of fresh raspberry, very little leathery brett. Acetic faint in finish, assertive carb, light to medium body. Gets a hint syrupy.

I love the raspberry flavor with a little oaky after taste! It looked like a pretty dark red. I would definitely recommend this beer.

On tap at Hunahpu Day. Served in a wine glass.

Appearance - Dark red and brown body. Small white head.

Smell - Strong raspberry. Oak. Some sweet maltiness and a lot of acidity.

Taste - Very nice. Strong sour raspberry. A balancing caramel malt sweetness. Oaky finish.

Mouthfeel - Medium body. Moderate sourness.

Overall - Excellent. Well made. Glad I got to try this.
