Style: American Amber / Red Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.80%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Amber Ale deftly balances a mixture of toasted grain & light caramel notes with a range of floral, citrus and herbal hop notes, capped by a clean bitterness. This balance of flavors makes Amber Ale quite versatile as a food pairing option, not to mention being rather tasty in its own right. Whether serving as a jumping point to other styles or as a familiar standby, Amber Ale is central to the Bell’s portfolio.

An obvious amber color for this beer. Toasted flavors and some very floral, citrus and herbal scents to go along with it. Some bitterness to it. Would definitely order again.

This beer was great and typical of the amber flavors. It had full color and some caramel notes

Dark in color for an ale. Smells like caramel and tastes like caramel. Full, balanced flavors. Very good!

One of my favorite beers ever! A brewing master piece! More flavor and better mouthfeel of any Amber Ale out there.....love it! The young microbrewery fans out there have no idea about the legacy that this beer is. It was one of the first micro brewed beers ever and helped start the whole revolution. Thanks Larry Bell for knocking down the door of boring American Lagers and introducing us to this great beer! By far my favorite go to beer!

A. This is one beautiful beer. Pours a hazy dark copper/amber with a fluffy off white head.

S. Sweet caramel malts and a light fruitiness (orange peel and some dark fruit)

T. A superb amber ale. Nice sweet malty backbone with a light bitter finish. Hints of caramel, orange peel, brown sugar, and a nice yeastiness.

M. nice medium body with a good MF.

D. Easily a sessionanble amber ale with some great flavor. Definitely gonna pick up a 6er real quick.

Strong taste, strong body, good buzzy flavor. Has the force of a strong porter & the depth of an amber ale

Just a random pick up in a choose your own 6-pack. I've had a few other Amber ales that weren't bad, but nothing I'd join a site just to review and remember. My expectations weren't too high, which made it all the better. It looks good, and smells great, but that's just the start. Slightly hoppy, slightly bitter, slightly smokey, great feel. Overall it has all the elements of a great beer, and they're in harmony unlike other beers that overkill one element. I think it's my new favorite all-season beer.

Appearance: Dark orange, amber, a little hazy when poured and has a thin white head as well.

Smell: This beer has a fairly weak aroma but is still very appealing. Has mild yeasty notes with some citrus undertones. Not as overpowering that a lot of beers are.

Taste: This beer tastes yeasty with some obvious pine notes. I would describe this beer as having a weak broth taste with some caramel , grain and malt notes as well. It also has a very weak citrus undertone. This beer has a complex flavor spectrum; there are obviously a lot of distinct flavors in this beer.

Mouthfeel: This beer has a very crisp, clean, and refreshing aftertaste. The flavor is not as overpowering like most beers. I found it to have slight carbonation but not as much as some other beers.

Overall: This beer is my favorite beer thus far. There is just so much going on with this beer and all the flavors work really well together, it creates a delicious beer. I enjoy the crisp, clean finish. It is such an easy beer to drink, not too strong yet has a distinct taste. I enjoy darker beers to begin with, so the color was what first appealed to me. The yeasty, malty, caramel flavors are delicious. I would highly recommend.

Poured from a bottle into a standard pint glass.

A: Dark orange with two fingers of tan head with an assortment of different sized bubbles. Unfiltered floaties throughout. Top half of beer super cloudy from swirled sediment poured in.

S: Honey, apples, light citrus, floral hops and notes of vanilla. Smells fantastic.

T: Taste is even better than the smell. A creamy mouthfeel is supported well by a refreshing caramel and vanilla body with a great hop presence but not at all "piney." Very slight malty bitters in the aftertaste but overall a clean finish.

D: My advice is get at least a sixer. Never overwhelms.

Value: Amazing. I paid just over ten bucks for a six pack. This is one of the best ales I have ever tasted and for what I paid it was a total steal.

Highly recommended for those times when you wanna drink some awesome beer that you don't need to put too much thought into.
