Came slightly cloudy gold with not too much head. Had a pinch of banana smell to it. Had some orangish hints in there too. Taste was kinda like bananas in the background too. little bit of spice as well as a light malty finish. Medium to light mouth feel. Very drinkable in my opinion because its a great brew and a lower ABV. Recommended.

Live review. Poured from a bottle into my Brewery Ommegang Witte glass. $1.50 at Heinen's in Willoughby Hills, Ohio as a single.

A Before the yeast got poured in the body was a mundane straw yellow with a nice meringue white head. I swirled the last bit of beer in the bottle and poured it in and "walla" there appeared a great looking cloudy straw yellow opaque body under that same fluffy white head. Very good look for this style.

S Nice wheat and spices, very appropriate to the style.

T That basic Witbier taste of ...you guessed it... wheat grains and barley as well as some nicely balanced spices, herbs of maybe coriander and maybe some cinnamon (?). To me Witbiers are very consistent in their taste (at least the craft ones that I have tried such as Allagash White, Ommegang Witte and others) in that they all succeed in a fairly consistent taste. Anyhow, this Winter White Ale tastes very good and has a moderate spice profile over a bed of wheat wonderfulness.

M Light to moderate (as intended).

D Great (as intended) and with the low ABV I could have many of these in an evening. What a GREAT alternative to, say, a Reisling, and much less ABV (and money spent!) to boot!

Notes: I enjoyed this more out of the bottle. I wonder if that is due to the bottle fermentation/yeasts in the bottle?

The respected Bell's presents their venerable Winter seasonal here, and it's a Belgian-style wit beer. This one pours a hazy yellow-orange with plenty of fine, white carbonation and a little retention.

The aroma is definitely spices (I get a little clove) and citrus (namely orange).

The taste is balanced and mild, with sharp wheat notes and orange zest playing leisurely with a little spice for warmth. Pleasant and enjoyable.

12oz single, Riley's, batch 7114 i think

appearance: sweet label...cheers to midwest winters. the beer is a very pale and watery yellow with a decent bright white head and some decent lacing

smell: heavy on the wheat, ripe bananas come through strong, orange and other citrus fruit, a little spice

taste: crisp and fresh...lots of fresh bananas, very clovey, toasted wheat throughout...a nice wit, but not up to bells par

mouthfeel: crisp, clean, fresh, light-medium bodied

drinkability: very drinkable

not a bad wit, just funny timing, but thats bell's

Poured into a hefeweizen glass. Next in the tour of Bell's that started at their brewery and continues through this mix and match 6 pack...

A: Hazy orange yellow with a thin white head. Low carbonation, no lacing.

S: A bit of musty yeast, citrus, spice, and a banana sweetness.

T: Mustiness and spice more dominant than in the aroma. Good citrus flavor, and an overall sweet finish.

M: On the heavy side for a wit, so medium. Could use a bit more carbonation to liven it up.

O: I was pleasantly surprised by this beer - it leans toward the sweeter side of wits without being syrupy or sickening. Emphasizes citrus and spice over must and tartness. Not the best example of the style, but very drinkable.

Winter, though?

Stopped 3/4 of the way through the pour to agitate. Got a finger of white head that dissipated in less than a minute. The body is a yellow gold color with a lot of suspended sediment observed. No lacing seen throughout consumption.

Yeast and wheat are the main nose staples in this style, and this beer stays true to that. The faint aromas of banana, some mild citrus and spices with clove being a big feature are also noted.

Yeast and wheat bread goodness. I don't even like real wheat bread, but I love the taste in my beer. A mild citrus offsets the banana flavor and clove, coriander and other spice make a nice medley that finishes this beer off.

Mouthfeel is light on this beer, carbonation isn't over the top either. Technically it would be chuggable, but then you wouldn't be enjoying it, would you?

Pours a straw-colored yellow, opaque, mild carbonation apparent, with minimal head, gone entirely within several minutes. Nose is strong wheat, honey notes with lemony essence. Carbonation masks much of the flavor up front. More intense than I expected. The numbness in my tongue reminiscent of the aftereffect of cloves. Lemon rind at the back. Bananas in the aftertaste. This is the first wheat-beer I've really enjoyed. I appreciate the complexity and clear notes in this one. Decently drinkable!

Only decent offering on tap at Suel's in Winnetka, hazy, pale straw with a white, bubbly head that settles quickly. No lacing to speak of.

Lovely nose of citrus and coriander, Orange peel, some dry grain and a vague hint of lemon.

Flavors are crisp and clean, long lasting. Orange and coriander predominate with a dry malt backbone and some moderate hop-bitterness.

Mouthfeel is medium, with a good amount of carbonation.

I like this beer and am not sure why it's a winter brew, heavier than most, I think not. Would be fine in summer. This beats the crap out of Oberon for me.

bottle dated 11/9/11 poured into a glass

Pours a hazy light yellow with a head thinning head.

Classic smell of bubble gum, bananas and spices.

Taste is wheaty, balanced witbier. No metallic and very refreshing.

Mouthfeel is a little thin, but not bad.

Overall this is a very good witbeer. it doesn't try to be too much, just as advertised. Nice job bell's.

Served from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a golden yellow with a small head that dissipates slowly.

Smell: The smell that comes through the most is a citrus smell with a slight wheat smell in the background. There is also a slight peppery smell in the background.

Taste: A strong citrus flavor is the first thing that hits the tongue and then there is a slight wheat taste. Finishes with a little hop bitterness. There are also hints of pepper and banana.

Mouthfeel: Good Mouthfeel. Right amount of carbonation.

Drinkability: Very drinkable. I could have a few of these in sitting.

Once again a good offering from the folks at Kalamazoo Brewing. Keep up the great work.

This is a fabulous wit beer, but why, why in the hell would they ever promote this as a winter beer. I will buy this if I see it in spring, but never in winter again. This is a definite summer brew and a good one at that. Nice head and lacing, great oft wheat and fruity flavors and a more than medium body. A nice offering, just don't tell us to except this as a winter brew, this is definitely a summer brew.

Now listening to: Meatloaf - Anything For Love

A- Cloudy, espcially after pouring in the yeast residue
S- OK, I asked for it by adding the yeast, but all I can smell is the yeast strain...fruity
T- orange, bananas, straw wheat
M- A little chewey...but again, I added the yeast
D- Kind of an odd style selection for a US winter ale, but still pretty tasty.

1st review for the site, so prepare for somebody who loves beer but doesn't know how to talk about it yet. Poured from a bottle into a pint glass, batch 10218.

A - hazy amber color, with some sediment floating in the glass. About half an inch of off-white head, which dissipated pretty quickly.

S - mostly fruity aroma going on here. A lot of banana to it, a bit of apricot and some coriander.

T - the tropical fruit and spice is right in front, with little bitterness. Very refreshing taste, great for a 90+ degree day. I'd be more inclined to reach for a Kalamazoo Stout in the winter, but who am I to say ;-)

M - fairly strong carbonation, but not enough to make it seem overly harsh. A little on the dense side for a Witbier, but still easy to drink.

Overall - a satisfying and nicely spicy wheat beer with enough complexity to set it apart.

Appearance is a cloudy, light golden with a moderate white foam cap that dissipated quickly. Aroma is orange, coriander, and a distinct Belgian fruity yeast ester. Taste is a light bready malt with coriander spice, orange peel, pears, and a sharp hop bitterness on the end. Mouthfeel is light with a slight creaminess, and moderate carbonation. Finishes tart and bitter with a lingering pear and orange peel flavor. Great witbier.

A moderately hazy straw color with a foamy white head. Nice aromas of orange, coriander, lemon, and dough. The taste follows with the addition of floral notes from the yeast. Moderately carbed and light-bodied. Easy-drinking. Not flashy, but a very nice witbier.

Winter whites are a favo style for me, and this is a good one. Pours a cloudy yellow with a thin white head and good lacing. Pleasant fruity smell. Lemon And clove flavored, not too sweet. A good beer!
