One of the many midwest brews obtained through BIF14. Finally starting to review these goodies.

Very nice winter scene on the label, with white-capped trees and a snowy knoll.
Beer pours a dark straw color with only a bit of carbonation. A very weak off white head quickly trailed off.
Initially smell all the right esters, banana, and medicine. As it warmed, some very earthy and musky smells were evident.
Very smooth and creamily wheat controlled brew. All the usuals are in there (citrus, banana, spicy yeast, etc.) but they are well controlled and almost muted by the wheat.\
Finishes very clean and refreshing. Didn't wow me, but I wouldn't mind another.

12oz bottle pkgd 12/22/11

Pours a pale cloudy yellow with a head that quickly fades to nothing, save for a few bubbles dotting the rim, and a frothy film. Some cloudy sediment at the bottom of the bottle. Smell is grain, skunk, some pepper, a touch of citrus-y hops, and an odd dryer sheet scent. Taste is crisp corn off the bat, fading into a peppery citrus hop taste, ending with more corn and a slightly unpleasant aftertaste of skunky grain. There's some smoke flavoring in there as well, a friend remarked it tasted exactly like beef jerky. A tad undercarbonated, finish is dry.

A - Poured a slightly hazy, dull golden yellow body...the head was one finger tall and white in color...it retained to a wispy cap and left decent lacing behind

S - Notes of wheat and yeast, mixed with spices (clove, coriander), and some lemon zest

T - The flavors are pretty basic here, but they do tie together nicely...the wheat presence lingers throughout...the spices give a little extra kick and there is some pepper coming in as well...the lemon zest calms the spices, but also adds a bit of it's own twist and pairs with the wheat base...the finish has lingering spices coming back

M - Light bodied...too light for a winter brew...lingering spices, more lemon would have balanced out the finish

O - This is way too light to be a winter seasonal...they could have added more body to this and it would have been a little better...I wish the finishing spices would have been balanced by the lemon zest like in the middle of the beer

Poured from a bottle into a glass with minimal yeast rousing.

Golden like pineapple juice. Nice and cloudy. A thin bubble ring around the edge.
Smells like wheat, yeast, bread, and slight spice.
Tastes of Belgian yeast and a clove or pepper-like spice. A very subtle flavor profile.
Fairly smooth.

A little underwhelmed. Flavor was a little weak...slight banana, not a ton of spice. The aroma i actually thought had a touch of coriander, but not a ton. Mouthfeel was fine, maybe a touch on the harsh side for a white

Poured a hazy straw yellow into a pint glass with a sudsy white head that quickly frothed to a negligible film and left no lacing. Aroma is sour, with orange, spice, coriander, a little clove. Mouthfeel is a little slippery and very spiny with carbonation. Taste is banana, lemon, no tartness from the aroma, slightly grassy, finishing with an odd dry hop bite. Drinkability is moderate due to what is in my opinion a slightly unbalanced hop bitterness. Overall this is an ok beer, nothing more, nothing less.

Medium yellow in colour with a slight amount of haze. Very yeasty aromas along with notes of sweet orange and black pepper. The flavor is very much on the sweet/fruity end of the wit beer spectrum, with a clove and yeasty hefe undercurrent. The blending of the two styles doesnÂ’t quite work, as the similar phenolic aspects of the two styles become a bit overpowering on the finish. A nice try though, and still very drinkanble.

A - Pours a cloudy straw color with two fingers of quickly dissipating head.

S - Aromas of coriander and a small amount of citrus.

T - Tastes of wheat, some faint citrus hops and spices, mostly coriander. Flavors balance well. They aren't too exciting, but not bad.

M - Pretty light mouthfeel, but I guess appropriate for the style.

O - A pretty easy drinking, if not particularly interesting, wheat.
