Hints of nutmeg and cloves. Smooth, with nutty aftertaste. Slightly sweet but still with strong flavors. Definitely a beer I'd like to enjoy in the winter.

Light golden color, hazy, heavily carbonated. 1/2 inch thick white head, recedes fairly quickly. Light aroma, hints of banana/wheat and cloves. Moderate feel, initial taste is hefe-like, banana, cloves, wheat, following the aroma. Only slight bittering in the middle with a mild slightly sweet finish. A pleasant beer. Refreshing. A nice change from all the dark and/or high ABV beers in the winter.

Golden color characteristic with a lot of sediment floating around (looks like a sludgy gel). Smells light and very much like citrus, specifically grapefruit. Sharp, acidic bite. Tastes faintly like a lager.

Can't believe I'm just getting around to reviewing this one, I must have several every winter. This one is pretty standard, you get exactly what Bell's says. Aroma is wheat ale and spices: clove, allspice. Tastes just as it smells, but a little on the thin side. This one isn't going to roll your taste buds over. Smooth and easy, great on a cold winter evening.

Pours the expected golden straw color but head retention is minimal. Belgian yeast & clove on the nose but there is some off-note that is reminiscent of sawdust and spoiled lemon. Taste is very clove forward, has a spicey phenol vibe without the booze kick, but lacks any distinction or delicateness that wheat provides. You get the sense it overwhelms with the clove to hide the bland base.

I purchased a bottle of this from the Trader Joe's in Rochester, MN. Winter White Ale pours a straw hue with a moderate head that leaves behind just a bit of lacing. There is some noticeable sediment in the beer as well. The scent is of wheat and spices and the same goes for the taste. Winter White Ale goes down smoothly with just a hint of a spicy bite. This is a great beer and one I would definitely revisit again.

A little underwhelmed. Flavor was a little weak...slight banana, not a ton of spice. The aroma i actually thought had a touch of coriander, but not a ton. Mouthfeel was fine, maybe a touch on the harsh side for a white

Wow, maybe I am just thirsty from having officiated four hockey games tonight, but this is a keeper in my book. Straw color with a touch of cloudiness, light going down and a magnificent wheat beer.

Wheat beer start, citrusy middle and finish. I think it's headed the right direction, but I swear American breweries take the IPA road because it's easier. A real wheat is hard to pull off.

As Winter Whites go, pretty good. Nothing to tell your family and friends about, but a good attempt at this style. Nice color, smooth drinking, just a bit unexciting.

Bottle dated 12/2/2015. Hefeweizen glass.

Appearance: Pours a hazy yellow-orange with two fingers of bright white head. The head recedes to a long-lasting one finger. Ample visible carbonation of the small-bubble type. Collars of lace as I drink it down.

Aroma: A decidedly soft, wheaty graininess, followed by some clove phenols, green bananas, navel oranges. A touch muted, perhaps served too cold, close to 40 degrees. I am recovering form a cold, but even if this smell is muted by that, it really is lacking for the style.

Taste: Lightly tart arrival, not as sweet as I would have expected; some grainy wheatiness across mid-palate, turning to a surprisingly hoppy end (for the style; by no means is this a hoppy beer). A very light and clean beer.

Mouthfeel: Perfectly carbonated; a very slick beer, but the active carbonation stops it from being unpleasant. Some lingering slickness, but the overall impression is one of refreshment. Lighter end of mid-weight.

Overall: I had this many years ago when I first got into craft beer, and wasn't impressed. Time passed, and I wondered if my tastes would have changed (not to mention Oberon is one of my top 5 beers). So I needed to fill a pick-6 and got it. I am not disappointed; it is not true to style, but that's fine for an American brewery. Appearance and texture are perfect. It is not overpowering, though it is not really full of subtleties, either. It's a good change up from the usual wintertime routine, but not something I am likely to seek out.

12-oz bottle into Snow Cap nonic

A - enormous head of white over a crystal-clear body of golden yellow; initially crystal-clear, but cloudy after I finished pouring the bottle; high in visible carbonation

S - lemon, Belgian yeast (notes of bubblegum, clove, banana)

T - lemon, clove, Belgian yeast; quite funky; fairly boring

M - sticky medium body, highly carbonated

O - overly carbonated for my taste, smells and tastes funky, Belgian yeast is the main feature here with nothing to keep it interesting; unimpressive

Poured into tulip glass from 12oz bottle. Straw colored, cloudy from sediment. Decent off white head and heavy lacing. Strong bread notes. Crisp and clean taste with very mild bitterness at the end. Excellent wheat beer.

Man, I love this beer. It's a Winter Warmer rendered as a Belgian-style White. I think this is officially my favorite winter seasonal.

A: Cloudy, warm, soft yellow with a pleasing off-white lace.

S: Sweet bread, yeasty banana, spice, bit of citrus, very slightly floral.

T: Follows the nose. Yeasty clove and coriander spice, sweet bread, banana. Slight fruity, citrus bite. Mild, gentle hop bitterness. Finishes tea-like, with a hint of medicinal phenols. In a blind test, you would NEVER guess that this beer contains no spice -- the flavor profile comes entirely from the yeast. Pretty impressive.

F: Obviously lighter than your traditional dark Winter Warmer, but surprisingly full-bodied and extremely satisfying, especially considering the modest 5.0% ABV.

This beer pours slightly hazy orange cream with a large head. The aroma leads with shredded wheat, coriander, and nutmeg. There is little in the way of citrus peel on the nose. The flavor is very spicy, full of coriander, cumin, nutmeg, and allspice, with a hint of orange peel just at the end. The mouthfeel is refreshing but full. Overall this is a very nice and flavorful American example of of a witbier. Much better than Oberon for me.

I like Bell's Winter Ale a lot at its price point. The four pack of 16 oz cans is a particularly good value. The flavor is dominated especially by a moderately bitter orange peel flavor, with less of the banana-like flavors that are more predominant in some other wheat beers. It would be interesting to compare this side by side with Bell's Oberon, which I also like a lot.

I'm not quite sure what makes this a "winter wit"--I don't get too much of anything I associate with a wintery spice here. Perhaps the "winter" name is found in the way this beer reduces some of the more citrusy, summery elements of a typical wit, in favour of a kind of bready, full-bodied (almost lager-y) "crispness". Still, I quite like it.

On tap at DC Dulles. Little carbonation, slightly hazy gold color with a little lacing. Classic Belgian yeast banana nose. Great clean Belgian white. Nothing fancy, highly drinkable.

Packaged bottle on 9/29/15. Lots of floaties in there which is a little off-puting. Nice head. Smell is a little disappointing. Not sweet or bready, but a little sulfuric. Taste is very nice however. Smooth, sweet and bready and grassy witbier. Has all the flavor notes that I really enjoy. Sessionable and smooth. Was a nice change of pace from all the hoppy and

Pretty straightforward witbier. Hats off to Bells for going against the grain in the winter with this seasonal. It's a nice change of pace in a time of pumpkin ales and spice bombs.

12 oz. bottle - Packaged 10/07/15:

Pours hazed golden. A thin white head leaves lacing.

The smell is of orange, pineapple, clove, wheat tang.

The taste is of orange, pineapple, clove, wheat tang. Crisp finish.

A different twist on a witbier, yet it still fits the style. An interesting brew. Not sure where the "winter" part fits in.

This beer had a wonderfully smooth slide going in. The after taste was a bit too strongly roasted for my liking. The head was gorgeous, thick white and full. It definitely brought to mind the comfort and peace of the winter season.

Good beer. Nothing exceptional. Golden yellow color. Mild aroma and taste. Def not as yeasty as other witbiers. Almost mild version leaning towards paler ales. But def. still a witbier. I would not not have on my top 10 for this style but won't turn one down if offered to me (oh, wait...that's any beer).
