A: Poured a golden-yellowish color with a small, white whispy head that has rather poor head retention. It fades quickly leaving no lacing or collar just some bubbles floating from the bottom
S: The nose is pretty typical of what this style should be. Some clove, peppery spice on the nose with hints of banana and some sugary sweetness.
T: Initial taste presents a stale grains note but that is shortlived and actually improves as the beer warms to room temp. Other initial notes are pretty common for the style; some good balance of peppery spice, cloves, a measure of wheat perhaps and good dose of banana but leans towards the spice. A very, very light bubblegum note appears for a brief moment. The beer is indoubtedly sweet but not over the top, again, pretty common for the style. heat is rather mute but really flaunts midtaste. The finish has a light soapiness which is unwelcomed coupled with a lingering yeastiness
M: Medium body, well carbonated for the style. Lots of flavor sits on the palate, coats the mouth and provides a nice warming sensation.
O: Not to bad. No major flaws in this beer that I can detect and nails the style points minus the light soapiness. For a American tripel its a go.
