Visited with a friend on a recent trip to Detroit.

Sat at the bar and tried the following:
Odd Side Ales Citra Pale Ale (draft)
Roak Live Wire IPA (draft)

Both were drinking well. Service was competent as our drinks arrived quickly. Good atmosphere here. Tap list was better than expected, and I was happy to find two beers I hadn’t sampled before. The overall experience was above average, and I would most likely come back.

Great diner/burger bar feel in hip corktown spot. Good beer selection. 10-15 taps. Good locals on tap. Great burgers and fries. I've never had any issues with getting a seat or speed of service, but I imagine they get busy when there are events in town. If there's a 2+hour wait at Slows, and you don't mind grabbing a burger, head across the street. Mercury should not disappoint.

How many restaurants/pubs offer a view of a derelict train station? Not many, I bet. Come for the view...stay for the outstanding service, great burgers and a really, really decent tap

Located in the ultra-hipster area of Corktown, don't be surprised to see burly beards, ugly glasses and thrift clothes.

Interior is nicely appointed with subway tile and other little touches. Basement is a little cramped though.

Great amazing burgers, worth the price. Milkshake was overrated and overpriced.

Beer selection is very slim only a few microbrews to choose from and very expensive.

The beer selection is quite good for the area, with some surprising stuff available. I wouldn't say the draft selection is huge, but there are usually 5 or 6 gems in there. I believe there are 16 handles with 12 of them being Michigan craft. The bottle selection is pretty good too, covering all the right domestic craft and import bases.

The service is good and friendly and the food is excellent and reasonably priced. I had the Southwest Burger and it was the best burger I have ever had. All in all I like this place a lot and I hope they maintain some dedication to their craft beer bar status.

The Mercury Burger & Bar is a hidden gem in Detroit’s Corktown. It was once the Mercury Bar way back in my grandfather’s time. It closed in the 80’s. The owners gutted the place and opened it up as an art deco burger bar with tons of atmosphere. It is very relaxed no matter what night you are there and I have found that my bartender was more than knowledgeable about the tap selection.

They have an impressive selection of microbrews on tap. The emphasis is on Michigan products which is fine by me as the state produces some amazing beers. They say they will change the taps fairly regularly so you can always find something new and interesting to try. They know their beer and are more than happy to let you sample something if you are unsure about it.

The burger is awesome too!

This is one of the stops that I looked forward to the most. I was able to combine two of my favorite things, beer and burgers together in one place. For a place to have food this good and all the beer available that they do should be a sin. The food was hearty and absolutely delicious. Have a Shorts Huma Lupa IPA with your Southwest Burger. L life has to be good. If I could, I would be there at least once a week with no problem what so ever. The beer list is enough to bring you there alone. There are sixteen handles with the majority of them Michigan craft beers. Then when you couple the incredible food with it this place is a no brainer. Detroit has something very special with this place. Did I mention their Biergarten?

Sweet, another food spot opening in my neighborhood! I've been excited about this place opening ever since I saw the words "Bacon" printed on the exterior wall. They opened on St. Patrick’s Parade Day in Detroit. Old school style with modern leanings. I love the fact they have a Biergarten in the back.

I had a cheeseburger with cheddar medium rare and my friend had the Chicago style hot dog, shared some sea salt fries. The burger was ON POINT, best $6.50 I've spent in awhile. Exactly what I expected, simple good stuff. Now I'm not a huge fry guy but I dug on these; well salted defiantly not frozen crap, hand cut. My girls Hot Dog looked great and she was pretty happy with the tube steak (yeah, I said it). I was too thrilled with my burger to even remember to ask for a bite of her dog.

Beer, awesome selection. I had a Founders Dirty Bastard (there is no bad Founders in my opinion). I wish I could remember what else they had but we had some shots of Jameson’s before hand, I just remember it was a good Michigan lineup.

They have a basement called Corktown Cellars with more seating which was cool and odd for Detroit. You can see the kitchen from the bar which is pretty nice.

Staff was super friendly even near the tail-end of St. Pattys, which says A LOT. Even the Chefs were smiling and on a cool vibe when I said hey to one of them walking by.

I can't wait to try the full menu! My new summer hangout. Did I mention the beer?

The bar/restaurant has an art deco theme to it. A mural called "Station Man" depicting all modes of transportation hangs near the bar. The bar itself is covered with Mercury dimes and has the owners' friends’ names letter-pressed into the brushed zinc top. The, the outdoor patio called the “Biergarten” filled in with reclaimed Detroit road bricks and has an awesome view of Michigan Central Station and Roosevelt Park. The lower level, named the “Corktown Cellars” is a funky room with additional seating. Too cool.

Their burgers boast fresh-ground, hand-pressed Creekstone beef flown in from Kamas City daily. I had the S.W. Detroit, which was topped w/ a chorizo slider, jalapenos & Muenster cheese. My wife had the “Local”. It’s a burger with pulled pork, cheddar cheese, pickles, coleslaw and BBQ sauce….wow! They also boast a menu which is almost entirely Michigan-made.

Now the beer. In addition to serving the usual booze and wines its tapper serves 16 drafts, the majority are Michigan handles, including Saugatuck Brewing Co. ESB Amber, Short's Bellaire Brown, Dragonmead Final Absolution, a Crooked Tree IPA from Dark Horse and of course Bells.
